Operations Roaming Services and Signaling Platform Specialists are part of a leading edge team that is responsible for keeping and extending the national and international Roaming footprint, as well as the VoLTE/5G signaling platforms in order to deliver excellence to our customers.

Reporting to the Manager of Roaming and Service Assurance, the candidate will provide operational support for the Rogers current and next generation of wireless services in a virtualized environment.

This includes wireless 2G/3G/LTE/VoLTE/5G technologies. 

The candidate will provide 24/7/365 on-call support on a rotation basis, for services and platforms provided via a multi-vendor network element infrastructure.

This technical support role within Operations demands specific skills in understanding and troubleshooting complex service flows. It includes the context of an IMS network in a virtualized environment and being able to drill down into specific network platforms and elements that may be affecting critical service flows.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing Core network wireless signaling platforms in a virtualized environment
  • Managing international and domestic roaming service incident and service flows, requiring complex troubleshooting.
  • Development and integration of Automation leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques
  • Management of hardware platforms, including KPIs/alarm management and real-time monitoring
  • Bring strong innovation ideas to constantly improve the delivery of wireless services.
  • Execute Wireless Network Changes with agility and Excellence 
  • Next-generation reporting
  • Candidates are expected to stay well versed with convergence trends and the challenges that service providers have with common delivery and consumption of content and communications services in a multi-device, multi-access, cloud computing world.

Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science or Engineering is required. 
  • Minimum of 2 years working in a Cloud computing telecom environment at an advanced level
  • Experience in Core Wireless Telecom Networks including IMS, VoLTE and 5G
  • Strong proven IP skills
  • Advanced Diameter protocol knowledge
  • Demonstrated scripting knowledge using Python, PHP/HTML, SQL, and shell
  • Outstanding troubleshooting skills
  • Advanced level SIP knowledge including IP Security.
  • Knowledge of ANSI, ETSI, 3GPP and CCITT, GSMA standards
  • international roaming technical experience is a strong asset
  • Network Tracing tool experience is a must
  • A Self-Starter mentality is required for this role, the candidate must be able to learn from informal as well as formal channels as many of the concepts and services are rapidly evolving within the industry.
  • Candidate must possess the “thirst” to seek out answers on their own to problems encountered and must be able to work collaboratively to generate tactical solutions to operational support challenges as necessary

Special Condition: Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays, 24/7/365, on call responsibilities and availability to work overtime, when required.
