As Canadian readership shifts from print to digital, Rogers Media has reorganized to accelerate digital growthAs part of this, the Rogers Media Digital Content & Publishing division is now organized by pillars. The Entertainment pillar – responsible for producing highly-clickable fashion, beauty and culture content for HELLO! CanadaFLARE and other leading Rogers media brands – is looking for an ambitious, outside-the-box thinker with a passion for storytelling. You’re a collaborative worker who possesses serious hustle and a knack for creating upbeat, light, shareable content for Canadians who love celebrity, royalty and entertainment.

 

What you’ll be doing:

 

• Planning, developing and writing compelling editorial content for HELLO! Canada’s weekly magazine in collaboration with HELLO!’s print and online editors

 

• Researching and reporting stories, conducting compelling interviews and maximizing opportunities on the red carpet or in media scrums, on behalf of HELLO! and other brands as required (e.g. FLARE)

 

• Editing copy from staff writers and freelancers

 

• Planning content for specific sections and working with art and photo teams to envision layouts

 

• Working collaboratively within the Entertainment Pillar (including digital and tablet) and other departments across Rogers Media

 

• Maintaining creativity and high standards under tight deadlines, often writing multiple stories per day

 

• Staying on the pulse of entertainment, royal and lifestyle news

 

• Pitching celebrity publicists and building relationships within the industry

 

• Representing Hello! HELLO! and FLARE at events as needed

 

• Contributing content to other Rogers brands as required

 

What you have:

 

• A post-secondary degree

 

• Five years of editorial experience at a major media brand, preferably a daily or weekly publication

 

• The ability to research and write well at very high speed, with a strong sense of how to structure different types of articles (news stories, features and Q&As)

 

• A passion for celebrity news and royalty

 

• The ability to pitch and develop and compelling story ideas

 

• Strong drive, initiative, resilience and enthusiasm

 

• Strong time-management, organizational and planning skills, with a proven record of setting, meeting and enforcing deadlines

 

•Proficiency in InCopy and WordPress

 

•A willingness to embrace change with a positive, can-do attitude
