Full Stack Developer 

In the Learning and Innovation Lab, we are passionate about delivering seamless and mobile enabled learning experiences across a diverse ecosystem of sites, tools, and applications. Whether building an app from the ground up, or integrating with an existing system, we maintain sophisticated next generation functionality to benefit everyone at Rogers. The applications you build and maintain are integral to the learning and development of all Rogers employees delivering quality service and products to millions of our customers. 

We are looking for a Full Stack Developer to become an integral part of our team, where you will have the chance to innovate, grow and excel. You must have a strong understanding of databases, cross-browser compatibility, as well as general web functions and standards. You also have functional knowledge or hands-on experience with developing web services and API integrations. We highly value strong design and development skills, a desire to learn, a willingness to collaborate, and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.  

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Developing mobile-friendly, responsive full stack web applications including productivity tools, 360 VR experiences, and chatbots.  

  • Maintaining existing web applications including fixing bugs and recommending improvements 

  • Working with our designers and product managers to create features that work flawlessly and look beautiful on all devices. 

  • Applying expertise to solve interesting technical problems. 

  • Presenting concepts and solutions to business stakeholders and management. 

  • Researching and recommending modern technologies for innovative solutions. 

  • Collaborating with colleagues on solution design and development. 

 What we’re looking for: 

  • Proficiency with HTML, CSS, SASS, JavaScript, PHP and Node JS, Vue.js and React.js 

  • In-depth knowledge of MySQL. 

  • Experience with Redis, Socket IO and MongoDB. 

  • Basic understanding of Python and machine learning. 

  • Experience with JSON notations and API calls. 

  • Knowledge of version control systems, namely Git. 

  • Experience building and scaling user-focused web applications. 

  • 2+ years' experience with design or development of web applications. 

  • 2+ years working in a modern MVC web framework such as Laravel and Express. 

  • Knowledge of Content Management Systems using Laravel such as October CMS.  

  • DevOps experience in a Linux environment (CentOS), managing VM cloud servers. 

  • Experience developing software features using analytics, for example Matomo. 

  • Mobile application development is an asset. 

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills. 

  • Outstanding work ethic and attention to detail. 

  • Openness to mentor and support other team members in their development.
