Finance Manager – Wireless Equipment Finance, Reporting & Results

 

The Finance team is seeking a strong and dedicated Finance Manager to join their Communications Finance Group. Reporting to Senior Finance Manager, Equipment Finance, the candidate will act as the Finance owner for Consolidate Consumer Wireless Equipment results in addition to supporting forecast and budgeting process by leading the equipment subsidy plan.  A leader within their supported team helping to set the strategic direction based on thorough understanding of business issues, financial goals and competitive environment.  Will focus on the Dual Brand impact of ongoing initiatives and highlight current trending, risks and opportunities.  

 

Responsibilities:

·       Lead a team of two talented Sr Financial Analysts responsible for both Rogers and Fido Subsidy plans.

·       Act as the point of contact to our two key business partners: Commercial Strategy and Device Management.

·       Lead results meetings with internal finance stakeholders and business partners.

·       Manage the overall results process for the Wireless Equipment portfolio.  This includes Subsidies, Vendor Funding, Program accruals, Inventory adjustments and Obsolescence, Pre HUP, Accessories and any other items related to the portfolio.

·       Review and approve Journal entries and ensure compliance with Accounting Standards and business practices. Review reconciliations vs targets and provide explanations for variance vs targets. Present month-end results and variance analyses on a regular and timely basis, communicate key trends and observations.

·       Manage reporting of results and allocations between business segments, Rogers & Fido brands, and COA & COR and ensure the allocations are performed accurately and on time for forecasting and month end closing.  Provide business insights, forecast analysis, and identify areas of improvement to streamline the process.

·       Manage the accuracy and timeliness of the forecasting for subsidy spend and tie-in of subsidy spend with vendor funding, including weekly & daily analysis of pricing/trends/mix to challenge rates and assumptions for subsidy and vendor funding.

·       Prepare scenarios to evaluate alternatives and analyze trends in spend in various device categories to provide insight and actionable recommendations.

·       Evaluate new programs and their implications in the Equipment portfolio. Provide financial and business case support on PDP/Business Case analysis with respect to the financial feasibility of product launches /changes in programs/pricing. Challenge assumptions and status quo to improve the financial results of the portfolio.

·       Manage Equipment related projects and impacts on forecasting and planning. Thorough understanding of relationships between projects and their implications in the financial results and the forecasting process. Manage and understand complex business requirements and translate them into items that can be reported and forecasted.

·       Make recommendations and champion opportunities to improve performance via process enhancements or spending control effectiveness supported by valid data.

·       Work on ad hoc projects as needed.

 

 

Qualifications:

·       Accounting Designation, CA, CMA, CGA or MBA.

·       Minimum 5-8 years Finance experience – 2-3 years experience as a Manager

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·       Ability to work with minimal supervision and to interact with all organizational levels.

·       Strong analytical and problem solving skills with an ability to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

·       Experience with Oracle or similar system, and Microsoft Office.

·       Knowledge of IFRS would be an asset.
