The Social Media Producer will be responsible for creating original content for Sportsnet.ca digital platforms with a focus on social media.

 

Responsibilities

 

This individual will be responsible for: 

 

  • Maintaining Sportsnet’s social channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and YouTube.
  • Promote editorial content and drive engagement on social media to maximize Sportsnet’s digital audiences.
  • Devise content plans & storyboards for social media coverage of live events.
  • Deliver branded content on Sportsnet’s various social media channels.
  • Find, write and edit breaking news, trending stories and other editorial content for Sportsnet’s digital platforms.
  • Maintain Sportsnet’s guide for social media best practices.
  • Have a flexible schedule with the ability to work occasional nights/weekends and overtime.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum 5 years in producing digital content with a Social Media focus.
  • Proven editorial experience with a passion for storytelling and knowledge of sports.
  • Excellent people management skills with the ability to drive engagement across all levels from the frontline team to on-air talent.
  • Proven experience using photo and video editing tools, such as Final Cut Pro, PhotoShop and SnappyTV.
  • Familiarity with WordPress publishing tools would be an asset.
  • Ability to work under stress to meet strict tight deadlines.
  • Be a firm believer that 99 per cent right is still 100 per cent wrong, with an affinity for detail.
  • Comfortable with social media and capable of integrating existing and emerging online forums and tools to enhance video content.
  • Embrace change in a fast-paced environment and welcome fresh perspectives with a proven ability to multi-task.
  • Graduate of a multimedia, broadcasting or journalism program or equivalent experience.
  • This position requires flexibility in working varied hours and some travel.
