Today’s Parent is looking for a Sr Editor, Video to join its award-winning team and drive our video strategy. The winning candidate will produce original lifestyle and service series driven by audience insights, leveraging a strong visual sense and an obsession with YouTube. Reporting to the art director, s/he will have high visual standards, a love of experimentation, the ability to conceptualize and communicate visual ideas, a strong design sense, respect for deadlines, and a broad knowledge of news, culture, contemporary video journalism and social media.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Create long-term video plan, collaborating with editors and audience development team to deliver on key KPIs
  • Conceive, pitch and execute video story ideas
  • Oversee production (including talent, script, casting, location, propping, shoot coordination, graphic elements) of our original video series
  • Design/oversee design of graphic elements like thumbnails and text overlays
  • Work across a range of topics areas, from baby care to health to crafts to food to humour
  • Collaborate with team colleagues, including editors, designers and the art director
  • Help manage and maintain our YouTube channel, with an eye toward subscriber growth
  • Some shooting and editing of DSLR video may be required

 

What you have: 

  • A post-secondary degree
  • Three to five years of video production/editing/filming experience at a major magazine, website, agency or TV network
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere and Adobe Creative Suite essential
  • Experience with DSLR cameras, audio capturing equipment and continuous lighting
  • Strong communication skills, positive attitude, team-oriented work ethic
  • Superior organizational and time management abilities
  • Strong interest in the tablet, web and social media
  • Deep knowledge of social media platforms, especially YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram
  • Ability to work under pressure and rise to creative challenges under tight deadline
  • Experience filming with kids a plus, but enthusiasm a must
