IT Platform Operations in Rogers Technology Organization is looking for a Sr. Database Specialist to manage their diverse Database fleet, including Oracle Engineered Systems and extend functional support to a diverse technology team. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Platform Operations, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a combination of proven technical, people and business leadership in ensuring high system uptime, optimal resource utilization, support change & growth, collaborate with functional partners, empower people, and effect continuous improvement. What you will do (Role & Responsibilities):


  • Engage on high-priority incident response and provide technical recommendations
  • Provide technical leadership in issue resolution restoring the services and drive root cause analysis to a closure
  • Analyze and recommend modifications to database infrastructure to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders to maintain database availability, reliability, and scalability
  • Attain, improve and report operational KPI’s and SLAs on system performance
  • Support the enterprise infrastructure powering dozens of business-critical applications across various sites
  • Maintain strong operational acceptance discipline for new database builds
  • Identify and lead automation streams to optimize database support

What you have (Qualification, Experience & Skills):

  • A Bachelor's or a Master's degree in Information Technology or in a related discipline or equivalent
  • 10 or more years of functional experience in RDBMS and NoSQL Database Administration
  • Hands-on experience of latest versions of Oracle, Cassandra, and SQL Databases
  • Exposure to other databases is a plus i.e., Postgres, SQLMI and Cloud Database (Amazon RDS and Aura)
  • Extensive knowledge of Oracle and native data replication tools
  • Hands-on experience of Oracle Engineered systems (Exadata, ZDLRA and Supercluster)
  • Well versed with Database Administrative tasks: Performance Tuning, Query Optimization using Execution Plans, SQL Server Profiler and Database Engine Tuning Advisor - improving the performance of databases and associated management tools
  • Knowledge of Datawarehouse and ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) is a plus
  • Working experience in Telecom industry is preferred
  • Practitioner of Incident, Problem & Change Management in ITIL Framework. ServiceNow experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills both written & verbal along with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to offer prudent technical solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to make well-informed tactical and strategic decisions under pressure
  • Highly motivated self-starter who requires minimal supervision along with the ability to motivate and lead others
  • Strong ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meeting business objectives in a fast-paced and changing work environment
  • Certifications in relevant technologies listed above is a plus
