Senior Network Designer

Come be part of the team that ensures the safety of Canadians! As part of the Regulatory Platforms & Services team, the incumbent will be responsible for the design, maintenance and evolution of emergency and regulatory services for the Rogers network.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Engineering and development of the Rogers 911 network architecture.
  • Development and maintenance of service access for emergency services such as Quebec Provincial Police, Ontario Provincial Police and Canadian Coast Guard.
  • Closely monitor and represent Rogers as part of the CRTC Emergency Services Working Group (ESWG) as well as Alerting Working Group (ATWG) & Canadian Steering Committee on Numbering (CSCN)..
  • Monitor Emergency Services best practices across the industry (NENA, EENA, FCC, CRTC).
  • Engineering and development of Rogers Location Services.
  • Engineering and development of the Emergency Services SBC/IBCF.
  • Engineering and development of the Rogers Nuisance Calls Mitigation (STIR SHAKEN, Traceback, Universal Call Blocking).
  • Maintain knowledge of existing technology documents. Develop and provide technical data for incorporation into internal presentations that may translate technical issues into business impacts.
  • Design reports, compile, assess and present, as required, 911 performance statistics.
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams and utilize system expertise to deliver technical solutions. Continuously learn and teach others existing and new technologies. Contribute to the development of others through mentoring or in house workshops and learning sessions. Influence technology and policy decisions made across the appropriate functional organization around architecture, design strategies and standards. Drive lab and field trial activities in support of Proof of Concepts.
  • Provide on call support, when required, during off-hour implementation for project support or during emergencies, disasters and outages.
     

The above responsibilities are applicable for, but not limited to, Rogers wireline and wireless networks.

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education preferred or equivalent experience, Professional Engineer preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of Canadian 911 service architecture and associated feature requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of NENA i3 NG9-1-1 architecture.
  • 5-10 years related experience in a telecommunications company preferably in Wireless.
  • Strong hands-on experience of Canadian Emergency Management responsibilities and stakeholders.
  • Proven troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Experience with SIP, VoIP and IP protocols.
  • 5-10 years related experience with Location Services (GMLC, E-SMLC, LMF)
  • Proven ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with Network Functions Virtualization (VNF, CNF)
  • Recent experience with Network functions integration.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player.
  • Bilingual in French and English an asset.
