Who we're looking for:
The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the Rogers Enterprise cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud. They will work closely with development teams, application administrator, enterprise architects, and IT teams to ensure efficient, scalable, and secure cloud solutions. The role requires expertise in cloud technologies, a solid understanding of AWS and Google Cloud Services, and the ability to optimize resources for performance, cost, and security.
What you'll do:
- Deploy, and manage cloud-based infrastructure on AWS using services such as EC2, S3, EKS, VPC, Lambda, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect and more.
- Deploy, and manage cloud-based infrastructure on Google Cloud using services such as VPC, Pub/Sub, Vertex AI, Cloud Engine, BigQuery, Cloud Run, Looker, Cloud Interconnect and more.
- Design scalable and highly available systems that meet business requirements. Participate in architecture reviews to propose new solutions and improvements.
- Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning using tools like Terraform Enterprise, Cloudformation or Ansible for repeatable, auditable deployments.
- Implement continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to streamline deployments.
- Ensure security best practices for AWS and Google Cloud services, including network security, IAM, encryption, and access control.
- Implement enterprise wide automated logging, monitoring, and alerting to ensure compliance and security.
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits of cloud environments, participate in yearly compliance audits.
- Monitor and optimize cloud resource usage to reduce costs while ensuring system performance.
- Provide recommendations for cost-effective cloud architecture and resource scaling.
- Implement cloud monitoring solutions to track performance, availability, and health of applications and infrastructure.
- Analyze logs, metrics, and cloud monitoring tools to troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Stay updated on the latest AWS and Google Cloud features and services and evaluate their potential to enhance cloud solutions.
What you bring:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Programming & Automation: Python, bash/shell scripting (Intermediate Proficiency)
- Experience with one or a combination of these tools: Terraform Enterprise, Cloudformation, Chef/Puppet, or Ansible
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in AWS and or Google cloud engineering or similar roles, with a strong focus on automation and public cloud deployment principles.
- Experience troubleshooting complex enterprise cloud environments from end to end.
- AWS and Google Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional, Google Cloud Engineer Associate/Professional)
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Nice to have:
- Hands-on experience with IAM roles, Policies and SCP management including cross-account access patterns
- Strong knowledge maintaining security guardrails at scale across AWS Organizations, Control Tower and Identity Center
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to telecommunications such as PCI-DSS, ISO27001, CRTC Compliance standards
- Experience using JIRA and Confluence an asset.
- Database proficiency: SQL and NoSQL administration; experience with Oracle, Postgres, SQL Server, Cosmos, DynamoDB (will be a plus)
