Who we're looking for:
The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for implementing and managing the Rogers Enterprise cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This role works closely with development teams, application administrators, enterprise architects, security, and IT teams to deliver efficient, scalable, and secure cloud solutions.
The position requires strong expertise in cloud technologies, a solid understanding of Azure and OCI services, and the ability to optimize resources for performance, cost, and security.
What you'll do:
- Deploy and manage cloud-based infrastructure on Azure, including services such as Virtual Machines, Blob Storage, AKS, Databricks, NSGs, Virtual Network Gateways, ExpressRoute, Virtual WAN, APIM, NAT Gateway, Azure OpenAI, and Azure DNS.
- Deploy and manage cloud-based infrastructure on OCI, including VCNs, OAC, OIC, Security Lists, NSGs, Load Balancers, ATP, Object Storage, DRG, FastConnect, and IAM.
- Participate in architecture reviews and propose new solutions and improvements.
- Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning using tools such as Terraform Enterprise and Ansible to enable repeatable and auditable deployments.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines to streamline application and infrastructure deployments.
- Ensure security best practices across Azure and OCI environments, including network security, IAM, encryption, and access controls.
- Implement enterprise-wide automated logging, monitoring, and alerting to support compliance and security requirements.
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits of cloud environments, including participation in annual compliance audits.
- Monitor and optimize cloud resource utilization to reduce costs while maintaining system performance.
- Provide recommendations for cost‑effective cloud architectures and resource scaling.
- Implement cloud monitoring solutions to track application and infrastructure performance, availability, and health.
- Analyze logs, metrics, and monitoring data to troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Stay current with new Azure and OCI features and assess their potential to enhance enterprise cloud solutions.
What you bring:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Programming & Automation: Intermediate proficiency in Python and Bash/Shell scripting.
- Experience with one or more infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform Enterprise, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible.
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in Azure and/or OCI cloud engineering or similar roles, with a strong focus on automation and public cloud deployment principles.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex, end-to-end enterprise cloud environments.
- Certifications: Azure and OCI certifications such as AZ‑700 (Azure Network Engineer Associate), AZ‑104 (Azure Administrator Associate), AZ‑305 (Azure Solutions Architect Expert), OCI Network Professional, or OCI Architect Associate.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Nice to Have
- Strong experience maintaining security guardrails at scale across Azure tenants and OCI compartments.
- Experience using JIRA and Confluence.
- Database proficiency with SQL and NoSQL technologies, including Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Azure Cosmos DB.
