The Rogers Information and Cyber Security Unit is seeking a motivated Cyber Security Specialist to join our Cyber Security team. This role is responsible for maintaining our existing cyber vulnerability management program through the continual review and development of our security process and procedures.  Reporting to the Senior Manager of Cyber Vulnerability Management, at the Rogers Park Brampton Campus, the Security Specialist will be accountable for reducing the probability of security incidents through continuous technical assessments, penetration testing and application code review.

 

What you will be doing...

  • Provide specific guidance to platform & application operators to ensure real world security against likely & plausible threats to Rogers.
  • Compile metrics for management review.
  • Calibrate with cross-functional departments to identify and create action plans for infrastructure and application vulnerabilities.
  • Conduct root cause analysis against vulnerabilities and determine feasible technical solutions.
  • Monitor progress, manage risk, and communicate with key stakeholders on progress and expected outcomes, and propose and take corrective action as appropriate.
  • Develop and distribute regular reporting on current threats and threat intelligence.
  • Identify areas to implement continuous improvement of security and operational functions to support Information Security.

 

What you have...

  • University degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience with vulnerability management tools, including the ability to deploy, configure, and run.
  • Knowledge of security and risk standards including (e.g. ISO, NIST, ITIL, COBIT.)
  • Knowledge of regulatory controls related to security (e.g. SOX & PCI-DSS).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and methods including, but not limited to, vulnerability management, privacy, incident response, governance, risk and compliance, enterprise security strategies, and architecture.
  • The successful candidate must hold or be willing to pursue related professional certifications such as the CISSP or equivalent.
  • Strong communication, presentation and relationship skills, especially the ability to articulate technical topics.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and facilitation skills with attention to detail.
