There is an immediate opening for a Specialist in Equipment Engineering to be located in our Brampton office. The successful candidate will be a results-oriented individual with industry knowledge and technology experience who would be accountable to develop & support Detailed Design Packages (DDPs) from high level engineering plans and guidelines from the various Capacity and Planning groups under Wireline Networks Organization. 

 

The Equipment Engineering Specialist works closely with the PMs & regional NI technical specialist assigned to the implementation of the project to ensure that all required site level details are provided for the successful completion of the projects. This position will focus on the Transport, IP, EBU & OSS, Wireless and Wireline platforms in Ontario.

 

What you will do:

  • Preparation and updating all required project documentation, creating site specific rack elevations, detailed wiring diagrams, and cable run lists
  • Identification of capacity planning impacts on Headend to Network Implementation Planners
  • Ensuring that all documentation and test plans are complete
  • Site surveys for network connections validation, space & power
  • Assign space & power for Network equipment
  • Maintain SpatialNET database/records
  • Collaboration with facilities on hub expansions (floor level input)
  • Site planning/preparation for equipment (best use of space, future deployments, tie line management for fibre)
  • Preparation and submission of detailed equipment lists (MORs)
  • Assisting in the coordination of timely delivery of materials to the project site
  • Visiting Headend sites and completing site surveys for equipment installation
  • Tracking projects to ensure deliverables are on schedule and on budget
  • Providing project updates in various work flow tools and weekly Project management meetings
  • Generating purchase orders for contractors
  • Develop and release Detailed Design Packages (DDPs)
  • Remain current with the latest company and industry technologies, policies and standards
  • Adhere to all applicable Health and Safety regulations, in accordance with legislation and related Company policy

 

What you will bring:

  • Practical Headend experience
  • Knowledge of all CATV inside plant design and construction practices
  • Understanding of all analog, digital and other network transport technology and systems
  • Previous experience in CATV or related network industry
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and the associated software
  • Proficient with AutoCad & SpatialNet software
  • Proficient with Remedy software
  • Familiar with standard Network hardware and interfaces
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
