The Technology Service Layer Development organization is looking for a Full Stack Software Developer who can develop microservices, frontend/backend applications, mobile applications, tools, and work in an agile software development team. The candidate is also responsible for designing, building, and implementing highly scalable software applications for IoT, 5G and Connected Home Technologies.

 

Reporting to the Software Development Manager – Tech Service Layer, the successful candidate will leverage his/her knowledge in building and managing microservices, technical roadmaps and vision, stakeholder management, Scaled Agile methodologies, solution architecture, and software development lifecycle management to play a critical role in building Service Enablement Microservices and integrating them into the Rogers Network.

 

This position requires creativity and innovation, strong communication skills, and collaboration with various cross-functional teams across Rogers.

 

Responsibilities

  • Build, optimize, and scale business-critical services and applications and ensure high availability
  • Automate build, test, and deployment for distributed, fault-tolerant infrastructure
  • Follow best software development practices (DRY, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery)
  • Collaborate with engineers to build reusable and testable modules to reduce the cost of delivery
  • Perform code reviews and design reviews to ensure compliance with development standards
  • Create software architectural diagrams, interface specifications, class structures, and other design documents
  • Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing best practices and habits
  • Help build a self-managed, cross-functional team within an Agile/Scrum environment

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Working knowledge of modern JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, Express.js, Jest, Angular, Docker, Python, and PostgreSQL
  • Able to build REST APIs
  • Understanding of the modern Web technology stack e.g. HTML5, CSS, HTTP2, asset loading/caching, etc. and broad knowledge of the JavaScript ecosystem
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Good understanding of agile software development life cycle and systems design
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools and methodologies
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and services
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture
  • Experience with software design patterns
  • Knowledge of emerging and existing technologies
  • Strong technical aptitude, communication skills and willingness to learn a new application/domain are a must
