What you will be doing:

  • As a member of the HFC Operations team, you will be primarily responsible for
    • developing Tools and Automations that use operational data to identify customer impacting and service degrading issues
    • recommendation engines to guide technicians and the Rogers Network Operations Center to the right course of action to resolve such issues.
    • Portals to allow uses to query operational data on an Adhoc basis
  • You will work within a dynamic and fast paced team environment with ever-changing and evolving responsibilities.
  • You will also be called upon to troubleshoot
    • Access Optical platforms
    • RF Access platforms
    • customer impacting events such as Fibre Cuts Incidents and Commercial Power Outages
    • single customer or platform issues when required.
  • You will be required to be on-call on a rotating basis
  • You will be required to perform occasional remote testing during a maintenance window shift.
  • You will work within a team of professionals, supporting one another on various projects and endeavours while also responsible for completing individual tasks.   


What you have:

  • Subject Matter Expertise on Wireline Access Networks equipment and operations including but not limited to:
    • HFC FTTC/FTTF Access network architecture from Headend to Tap
    • FTTH (RFoG, PON) Access network architecture from Headend to NAP/ONT
    • Access Network Specific (common service) Headend Equipment: Analogue Pilot Carriers, Sweep, US Noise (Electroline)
    • Optical platform like the Commscope CH3000 and Cisco Prisma XD
    • Cableserv CHAS 2 RF Amplifier platform
    • Viavi OTU Remote OTDR Platform
    • Alpha HFC Power Supplies
    • Lobby Camera components and integration
    • Access DWDM components and design
    • RF Combining and Splitting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Rogers Access Network and its physical and logical components
  • Demonstrated focus on tool development to support the evolution of the Rogers Access Network and better serve Rogers Customers
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SNMP protocol
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of Web design Java/PHP etc
  • Development of automation and recommendation engines using predefined parameters against operational data from Network and Customer Equipment
  • Identify root causes and implement solutions with the impacted group to improve customer satisfaction
  • Complete detailed analysis of the performance of the Wireline Access network, using historical data, investigate cause-effect relationships and complete cost/benefit analysis.
  • Obsessive Compulsive attention to Network Operations and Automation in an Operational setting
  • Automation Evolution Experience through vendor independent software automation of workloads
  • Unafraid to Use Creativity and Unconventional Methods to complete tasks and achieve goals
