The Device Technology and Syndicated Services organization is looking for an IoT Device Developer that has real-world experience in the technology research and introduction of fixed and IoT wireless devices within a Service Operator ecosystem. 

 

Reporting to the Manager of Wireless and IoT Device Technology, the successful candidate will have expert knowledge of wireless devices, device management, device testing and deployment.

 

The key responsibilities of the position will be to:

  • Architecture design of FWA/IoT device and service ecosystem
  • Solution architecture and integration of IoT Device Management platform
  • Solution architecture and integration of M2M and Consumer eSIM platform
  • Embedded software development: design, develop, and maintain embedded systems in products
  • IoT use case development with Rogers IoT service platform and point-solution partners, including Web UI, Streaming analytics, Microservice for API integration and data injection, and API management
  • IoT device roadmap and requirement development: develop IoT device technology requirements to support 5G/IoT network planning and ecosystem development
  • IoT certification/testing strategy, plan and automation
  • Participate in code reviews and requirement specifications
  • In-Field and In-Lab testing activities and device characterization

 

Key Knowledge Areas Include:

  • BS in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent work experience in the cellular or telecommunications industry
  • Good understanding of wireless device architecture and overall radio access network including common bands and carrier aggregation combinations including EN-DC combos
  •  Knowledge of TR-069, TR-181, and TR-104 device management
  • Knowledge of OMA-DM and FOTA
  • Familiar with 3GPP and GSMA specifications and able to research the standards to make device and network recommendations in order to support new features
  • Familiar with wireless chipset solution and RF modem architecture
  • The role requires knowledge of entire embedded systems, and development on either device SDK/agent or server-side SDK/microservice
  • Basic knowledge of IoT E2E system including HW, connectivity, network, cloud and application
  • Basic knowledge of network systems, OSI models and architectures
  • Knowledge of IoT device protocol like MQTT, REST, HTTP, LWM2M and COAP
  • Knowledge of IoT ecosystem like device, module and chipset, particularly the LPWA and 5G IoT connectivity features
  • Programming languages: Java, Python, C/C++, JavaScript, Node js
  • Development frameworks and tools: Angular, Docker, Postman, Visual studio code, npm, Github, MongoDB
  • Linux experience - Ubuntu or Debia
  • Experience in an Agile Scrum development process and be familiar to JIRA and Confluence
  • Experience with software coding standards and software debugging, and embedded web-server development
