The Manager, Wholesale Solutions will be responsible for the strategic management of Rogers relationships with Carriers and MSOs used for 3rd party off-net solutions/requirements. The candidate will proactively and aggressively negotiate, re-negotiate and manage Carrier Relations contracts on behalf of Rogers for the purchase of existing and new telecommunications services with Canadian, USA & Global suppliers. Candidate will work strategically and creatively with Marketing/Sales, Product Management, Legal, Operations and Network Engineering & Planning.  

What you’ll be doing:

  • Primary responsibility is for the strategic management of service providers, contract negotiations, price/cost negotiations, off-net product expansion and processes and new service provider on boarding.
  • Own and manage service provider relationships, escalations and all contract negotiations for assigned carriers & MSO.
  • Function as single point of contact for service provider issue / resolutions.
  • Leads efforts to research and resolve issues/concerns for service providers with assigned internal and external customers. Monitors and follows through to ensure resolution of chronic support issues with partners/vendors and addresses problems regarding compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • Leads Rogers team in discussions with service providers for new third party product implementation. Leads efforts in exploratory discussions for emerging technologies.
  • Collaborates with Operations team to determine their needs/requirements for service provider support for both Service Delivery & Network Operations Center (NOC).
  • Leads weekly/monthly operational review meetings with service providers to ensure positive processes and SLA adherence.
  • Maintains service provider Escalations contact records for Service delivery & Service Assurance teams.
  • Maintains current knowledge of new products and product enhancements that impact Rogers service provider agreements. Identifies and addresses issues, and works with management to ensure agreements are updated and executed to include additional vendor requirements as needed.
  • Addresses service providers concerns and requirements as needed to ensure complete support of customer needs.
  • Compiles data and provides information, feedback, reports to other internal organizations and to management on vendor performance, pricing and footprint.

What you bring:

  • University degree, preferably in business, engineering or telecommunications;
  • 7+ years of progressive work experience in a telecommunication or cable service provider, with focus on procurement, sales, network, product, finance backgrounds an asset;
  • Deep knowledge of the contracts and design of telecom carrier network services, primarily Ethernet, DWDM, DOCSIS, IP, SIP, Data Centre colocation and next generation data networks; secondary solutions such as Local/LD Voice, MPLS, Wireless networking and Media Services
  • Ability to translate market feedback and industry trending to key internal Rogers teams & stakeholders;
  • Exceptional skills in Excel, Power Point required
  • Strong combination of business acumen, relationship management and solution designing;
  • Ability and confidence to work/present at executive level engagements
  • Must be able to work well cross-functionally and create consensus and negotiate deliverables
