Reporting to the Sr. Manager Database Services, the Manager Database Services is a critical role supporting database build activities within a large and complex environment. The role oversees solutions and delivery of all relational & NoSQL database, Golden Gate and emerging database technologies.

Successful candidate requires strong technical and delivery management skills as well as an ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing diverse activities. This individual will be a hands-on technical lead managing the build resources and maintaining a strong relationship with our outsourcing partners.


What you will be doing – key responsibilities:

  • Managing enterprise database build services for heterogeneous databases, ensuring smooth and efficient delivery of projects.
  • Working closely with technical team leads, IT specialists, management and application support groups to ensure quality of service and timely delivery of projects.
  • Managing the design, build and delivery process for relational and NoSQL databases and Golden gate replication.
  • Prepare project cost estimation by reviewing the design documents and estimating manpower utilization. Monitor ongoing project activities and track costs.
  • Guiding the team to troubleshoot complex database issues in installation, migration and/or upgrade for suitable and timely resolution.
  • Providing regular updates to management on database project status and ensuring database delivery and maintenance tasks are performed effectively.
  • Staying updated with new database technologies and analyzing such technologies to bring into scope of existing infrastructure.
  • Improving the database standards, consolidation, replication, disaster recovery strategies and overall delivery operations.
  • Evaluating and recommending service improvement actions to increase efficiency in Database and Middleware operations.


What you bring – preferred competencies & qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 10+ years’ hands-on experience in managing databases and deep understanding of infrastructure and database architecture.

  • Results oriented with a positive attitude, enthusiasm and a passion for servicing the business.

  • Experience in database delivery services and leading technical teams locally and offshore.

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

  • Self-starter with the ability to learn quickly and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to multi-task, solve problems, promote efficiency and identify opportunities to introduce process automation.

  • Expert level technical knowledge of database technology stack; mainly Oracle, Exadata, MS SQL Server, MariaDB & leading NoSQL Databases.

  • Oracle Database Certification (preferred)

  • ITIL Foundation (preferred)

  • Project Management (preferred)
