The Internal Audit team is seeking a Manager with Rogers Technology Business Unit experience to join our dynamic team to help the function deliver a variety of solutions to strengthen Rogers’ internal control and risk management capabilities. Our services cover the full range of value protection to value enhancement audits across financial, operational, network, information technology, compliance, strategic and emerging risks.
 

The position has the responsibility to support our function in technology audit and controls projects and consult with our stakeholders on network, information technology, operational controls and process improvement. There is a significant opportunity for the successful candidate to gain exposure across the entire Rogers Group of Companies.
 

Candidates must have a strong commitment to providing excellence in client service and a demonstrated ability of producing high quality results. Strong interpersonal skills are required to supervise less experienced personnel and to manage key client relationships. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.


What you'll do:
 

This role has 4 key pillars of responsibility in the areas of audit management, relationship management, team development and strategic objectives. Detailed requirements are outlined below:

 

  1. Audit Management: 

 

  • Accountable for end to end delivery of audit engagements including SOX testing as applicable but not limited to:

 

  • Preparation of key deliverables including engagement memo, findings reports and/or other supplemental communication to key stakeholders (e.g., email template communications to go out to the final stakeholders)
  • Leading all key meetings such as kick-off and closing meetings.
  • Planning and organizing required resources, defining and/or approving audit program, performing review of team's work ensuring team delivers against the established IIA standards, GRC protocols, on time and on budget.
  • Ensuring that all project closure activities are completed including proper sign-off, monthly time tracking, QA comments clearing, survey distribution, survey response analysis and actioning.
  • Evaluating technical/engineering and operational processes and identifying potential problem areas and key risks, as well as performing ongoing risk assessments.
  • Executing audits of technology platforms/functions to evaluate technical control elements that mitigate risks regarding the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the Network/IT.  Reviews include highly technical areas of current/emerging technologies e.g. 5G, distributed/cloud computing, cyber security, firewalls;


Detailed AIC responsibilities are available for distribution upon hiring.
 

  • Handle multiple concurrent complex engagements and prioritize resources accordingly to achieve deliverables in alignment with Rogers Corporate priorities and ERM strategic and business unit risks.
  • Ensure that VP/directors are kept apprised of audit status and/or escalations.
  • Provide inputs into, and assist in the preparation of the IA annual audit plan.


Audit & Risk Committee (ARC) Reporting/Findings Updates

  • Oversee findings reporting process to drive ELT/ARC reporting efficiency and effectiveness in consideration of all areas (i.e. IT, network, Operations) as defined in the AIC responsibilities.
  • Oversee the development and/or distribution of key metrics to leadership.
  • Relationship Management – Individual must be able to foster an environment of open & honest communication, feedback & teamwork.
  • Manage challenging situations with clients during engagement lifecycle and escalate as required.
  • Keep clients and audit leaders apprise of ongoing audit issues/risks throughout the engagement life cycle.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with directors and VPs outside of engagement interactions.


Team Development – Work on leading and growing your team personally & professionally.

 

  • Mentor staff on an ongoing basis and provide feedback on individual team member's performance.
  • Proactively identify training opportunities available to the team to support continuous knowledge increase for the team. 
  • Complete development plan by required timelines. Assist and/or complete staff development plans and/or performance reviews, where applicable.


Strategic Initiatives

 

  • Lead and deliver on IA strategic initiatives.
  • Provide and action relevant business and/or technology insights into current, emerging & potential technology (Network / IT) issues, trends & opportunities affecting our clients.


What you'll bring:

  • Undergraduate degree in telecommunications, electronic communication/engineering, information systems, computer science;
  • At least 5-7 years demonstrated network/ IT /engineering experience in a telecommunication environment;
  • Certification in at least one area (e.g. CISA, CISM, CISSP, GSNA) is desirable;
  • Strong business acumen of how technology supports the achievement of business objectives;
  • An understanding of concepts related to information systems audit, information security, general IT controls and technology risks;
  • Knowledge of data centric concepts such as TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, VoIP, Ethernet, VPN, Wireless
  • Working knowledge of operating systems, security software, network security, database management systems, business and operational applications;
  • Familiarity with IT controls/governance frameworks such as COSO, ISO 27000 series and CobiT Control guidelines;
  • General knowledge of technology management disciplines including change and problem management, physical and logical security and ensuring continuous availability;
  • Enthusiastic, highly motivated, able to work independently yet be a team player;
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise work flow and work under pressure;
  • Superior organisational, analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills;
  • Ability to communicate highly technical issues to non-technical audiences and demonstrated leaderships skills; and
  • Good skills in Microsoft Office products, and also data extraction and manipulation tools such as ACL or general purpose SQL tools.
