Manager, Wireless Access Network Expansion

Rogers is investing in our service expansion plans and will be growing our Network team to support a number of initiatives to extend our wireless network reach to more costumers and businesses nationally.

This position, reporting to the Director of Wireless Engineering Standards, will manage a technical team dedicated to delivering against Service Expansion Plans for rural and underserved communities as well as in and out of footprint greenfield projects. 


Responsibilities: 
 

  • Align with National Planning, Corporate Strategy, Network Technology and cross functional Service Expansion teams on developing multiyear road map for Wireless Access Service Expansion.
  • Collaborate with Network Capital Planning and cross functional Service Expansion teams on yearly Service Expansion budget development.
  • Plan, budget, and initiate FWA expansion projects to support network evolution and to meet subscriber demand.
  • Ensure alignment to established policies, engineering & construction standards & specifications and ensure waiver approvals as required.
  • Ensure advances in network capacity modeling and planning tools for LTE and 5G are leveraged.
  • Ensure existing network assets, new technology & construction methods leveraged.
  • Ensure quality and timely completion of feasibility assessments of service expansion opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Delivery Manager, Regions, and cross functional Service Expansion teams to deliver on the company’s Wireless Service Expansion objectives.
  • Final sign off on most cost-effective deployment for network expansions.
  • Manage all preliminary Engineering input for complex bid submissions and expansion projects.
  • Support completion of cross functional CA’s as required.
  • Support preparation of budgets, bids, and contracts.
  • Provide leadership to a team of Wireless Access Network Planners and Radio engineers including progress monitoring, coaching, mentoring, and effective upward reporting.
  • Ensure completion of Engineering planning & design specifications for successful bid awards.
  • Manage engineering support for implementation of successful projects.
     

Qualifications:
 

  • Highly effective leader & strong communicator with the ability to frame technology issues in business terms and effectively manage conflicts & issues.
  • Highly adaptive and flexible to changing environments and priorities. Ability to manage a team to deliver on objectives.
  • Strong understanding of designing & building, RF Engineering, capacity dimensioning and monitoring of Wireless Access Networks and systems including experience with roles and functions of all access network elements. Well versed on industry standards, LTE, 5G, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), Wireless Private Networks (WPN)
  • Strong financial acumen, understanding of project budgets and cost analysis
  • Education experience should include a post-secondary education, Bachelor of Electrical or Telecommunication Engineering preferably.
