Rogers is seeking a Manager Equipment Engineering Transport reporting to the Director, National Engineering, Standards and Operations at 8200 Dixie Road, Brampton. The successfully candidate will be a results-oriented individual with industry knowledge and technology experience who would be accountable to manage a highly skilled technical workforce responsible for the delivery of detailed designs in the area of Transport and IP Core projects across the Network footprint.

 

 Responsibilities include:

  • Leading a highly skilled technical workforce with engineering, planning and analytical skills.
  • Accountable for national wiring standards and rack and equipment installations.
  • Collaborate with engineering platform owners to analyse and confirm forecasts for space and power.
  • Site Optimization as required to free up space and power.
  • Accountable for all Transport, Core platforms, IPTV Solaris, R4B, Rogers Data Center, Wireless, Disaster Recovery, OSS equipment and Media equipment.
  • Work closely with Facilities Planning teams to ensure most cost-effective designs and projects for space and power.
  • Best practice and standard Core and Access (cable).
  • Decommissioning of legacy systems.
  • Coordinating and lead large scale project implementations involving Core & Access systems.
  • Work with 3rd party and Colocation firms to manage and ensure efficiency and correct billing.
  • Training and staff development, Health & Safety training and succession planning


Qualifications:

  • Education experience should include Professional Engineering designation, undergraduate university degree in electrical/Electronics engineering.
  • 7-10 years of work experience with major Telecom Service Provider or Cable Operator in Network engineering while operations experience if any would be an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of Fiber Optic, SONET, DWDM, CWDM, Ethernet and Digital Video Transport technologies. 
  • Working knowledge of the design and implementation of telecom carrier network services such as Local/LD Voice, Private Lines, Internet, MPLS, Wavelength services.
  • Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, prioritizing and relationship building skills.
  • Proven problem solving, analysis, planning, budgeting and forecasting skills.
  • Independent self-starter and quick learner who is able to work well under pressure and tight timelines.
