Rogers is seeking a Technical Specialist to complete Service Impact requests for planned physical network move, adds or changes. This role is critical to ensure we notify our network customers of any planned network impacts related to physical work. This role requires a high degree of detail in analyzing existing networks and ensuring 100% accuracy or submitted reports.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform detailed assessment of all impacted circuits & facilities in the Rogers Transport Network resulting from any planned inside or outside physical activity,
  • Analyze all available data, validate from live Transport systems, and investigate all discrepancies
  • Prepare detailed and complete Service Impact & Risk Assessment report on the basis of above, within agreed to Service Level agreements.
  • Involve Wireless Access Engineering/ Enterprise Operations when required, to incorporate their services/ circuits into the report.
  • Liaison with all internal departments to inform/investigate any errors/ omissions/ discrepancies that may arise.
  • Update records/databases as and when required.


Qualifications:

 

  • Education and experience should include, undergraduate university degree in Electrical/Electronics engineering or community college diploma with certification or equivalent. SCTE BCE, BCT, or BTS designation or equivalent work experiences would be a benefit.
  • 3-5 years of work experience with major Telecom Service Provider or Cable Operator in Network engineering while operations experience would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of Fiber Optic, SONET, DWDM, CWDM, Ethernet and Digital Video Transport technologies.
  • Knowledge of NetSmart, Site Manager, OneControl, PONS, CIMS/Objectel and NRM, as well as basic knowledge of Rogers Wireless Network is an asset.
  • Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, prioritizing and relationship building skills.
  • Proven problem solving and analysis skills.
  • Independent self-starter and quick learner who is able to work well under pressure and tight timelines.
  • Ability to present information and advise internal customers on proposed ideas.
  • Ability to advise on technical problems and review work for technical accuracy and adequacy.
  • Advanced Analytical skills; Ability to analyze and investigate any discrepancies that may arise in validating different sources of data.
  • Ability to act independently to determine methods and procedures.
  • Ability to modify established guide lines, advise new approaches, apply existing criteria in new manners, and draw conclusions from comparative situations.
  • Ability to work from assigned objectives, relative priorities and critical areas that impinge on work of other units.
