Reporting to the Manager of the Cable Network Quality team, the Specialist will provide end-to-end data support to current and next generation cable services teams to aid them in executing fault isolation, root cause analysis and continuous network improvement processes to drive improvements to the customer’s overall experiences with Rogers’ services. 




·         Provide ad hoc and recurring data support to Access Performance and Engineering and internal, cross-functional teams

·         Be a key contributor to medium and large-scale projects/initiatives with a focus on improvement of service or customer experience issues.

·         Support the team on internal initiatives towards process improvement

·         Interlock with multiple layers of cross-functional teams to gather data and support for on-going improvement efforts

·         Support root cause analysis reviews for outages on HFC and application platforms

·         Development of proof of concept prototypes or internal tools

·         Work cross functionally with others to understand existing and new potential data flows, and for transitioning value-added proof-of-concept prototypes to a scaled and supported solution via our operational network support and design teams





The ideal candidate will have a combined minimum of 1 to 3 years of direct and relevant experience in cable services, data analytics and will be able to demonstrate the ability to conceive, analyze, manage and implement medium-to-large-scale projects. 


·         College / University degree in a technical area (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science) or comparable work experience.

·         Experience and/or knowledge of data analytics and reporting software such as Business Objects, SAP, Splunk, etc. is an asset

·         Outstanding analytical and methodical troubleshooting skills

·         Ability to organize time among multiple tasks, issues and priorities

·         Experience in telecommunications networks with knowledge / understanding in one or more of the following areas is an asset:

o   TCP/IP protocols and networking principles

o   CMTS and/or CCAP

o   DOCSIS, Access & Core Networks, HFC (RF)

o   Digital TV, IPTV, encoding/transcoding/packaging

o   Over the top (OTT) applications and support infrastructure

·         Ability to take ownership and co-ordinate resolution of issues

·         Ability to provide “first pass” review of technical problems and support others in the resolution of those problems

·         Excellent skills using Microsoft Office tools such as MS Access, Excel and MS PowerPoint

·         Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) to both technical and non-technical personnel at multiple layers of management
