Rogers is looking to grow our network and will be investing in service expansion for rural and underserved communities in and out of existing cable footprint.

 

 As part of this commitment, Rogers is looking to hire a Principal Engineer to support service expansion.  This position, reporting to the Manager, HFC and Optical Access Testing, will provide technical expertise for testing and validating PON solutions to support expansion of our network.

 

What you will be doing:

  • General focus will be on developing, testing, and validating design and equipment and solutions for PON systems used in footprint and for Service Expansion.  Scope includes microducts, OLTs, and all other applicable components to deliver reliable PON services.
  • Work closely with other Engineering teams, particularly Service Expansion, Planning teams, Procurement, and others.
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams and utilize tools and expertise to deliver technical solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of others.
  • Author/edit technical documentation such as Evaluation Reports, Tech Notes, Engineering Design Specifications.
  • Document test procedures and methods for testing equipment.
  • Assume lead role on complex engineering projects, or lead smaller, less complex projects
  • Represent Cable Access Engineering in meetings with other teams.
  • Work on problems that are complex and sometimes involve issues that have not been encountered before where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.
  • Advises on technical problems; reviews work for technical accuracy and adequacy.
  • Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments.
  • Provides technical advice and coaches project teams through technical issues.
  • Support new technology introduction and associated knowledge transfer.
     

What you will have:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in the Telecommunications industry.
  • Education, experience should include Professional Engineering designation, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to breakdown complex problems into smaller logical tasks.
  • Outstanding analytical and methodical troubleshooting skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of HFC and PON networks.
  • In depth experience with RF and optical test equipment
  • Experience in managing multiple, simultaneous complex projects.
