In the role of Senior Wireless System Designer/Engineer, you will support the design and development of data-driven solutions across a variety of Information Management initiatives ranging from existing applications to new large-scale and complex data transformation programs. You will employ extensive planning experience to develop efficient, reliable, scalable and secure solutions to meet the business needs. This includes planning, evaluating, recommending and designing the solutions to ensure that network projects are cost are prioritized. 
 
Key Responsibilities: 

  • Explore and characterize the data available to a business unit/team.
  • Develop and implement predictive network models.
  • Support the influence and impact across the enterprise in promoting the tools and services developed within the team.
  • Expert level in at least one of the areas of 
  • Identify new technologies as they become available, and disseminate them to the peers and cross-functional teams 
  • Data analysis to improve service reliability and performance of Rogers’s core services (video, voice, data, wireless)
  • Identifying and implementing key metrics that drive customer experience in the wireline and wireless network
  • Works on problems that are highly complex and regularly involve issues that have not been encountered before where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles
  • Identifies opportunities to extend existing big data and emerging technologies to meet anticipated network, business and customer needs
  • Oral and Written Communications: Ability to deliver presentations and proposals to various audiences. Facilitates, influences, and persuades the decision-making of senior management on technical issues. Represents the company on technical matters.
  • Initiative: Proactively identifies present and future obstacles, issues, and opportunities. Takes actions to address such obstacles.
  • Innovation: Motivated to improve organizational performance through the introduction of new ideas, methods, processes, products, or services. Develops new ways of looking at a situation.
  • Collaboration: Build links with planning teams and create collaboration opportunities to get customer buy-in for active projects.

 
What you have to offer:

  • Good understanding of Wireless Technologies and Standards, Big Data, Network Capacity and related experience covering but not limited to:
  • 5+ years of experience in the role of application or system design and knowledge of establishing Big Data standards on Hadoop and platforms such as Exadata, Netezza or Terradata
  • 2+ years of experience with related/complementary open source software platforms and languages (e.g. Java, Unix, Linux, Apache, R/Python/Scala)
  • Advanced knowledge of 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) radio access network design, optimization & performance engineering
  • Experience working in an Agile delivery model.
  • Strong collaboration, teamwork & networking skills
  • Able to multi-task in a very dynamic environment and work with competing priorities
  • Experience with relational database technologies including Oracle 12x, MySQL, SQL Server, Postgres
