Reporting to the Manager, Core Service Solutions in the Technology and Service Introduction Department, this Senior Designer role will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to perform end to end Solution Design for Voice, Data, Messaging, IMS services delivered through the Rogers network.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Conduct Requirements Analysis for new and modified services & products. Solutions may involve new and untested technologies, applications or approaches. Requirements involve large sum of money with medium-to-long-term impact to the business.
  • Perform solution options and feasibility analysis, present findings & recommendations to peers and senior management
  • Produce clear, well-crafted design project plans with specified tasks, milestones, and level-of-effort required
  • Develop network budgets, and drive CAPEX and OPEX efficiency improvements
  • Produce Solution Design documents and conduct review sessions with Engineering, Operations, OSS, and IT
  • Manage Vendors to design, deploy, and integrate their portion of the solution, including reviewing quotes and scope of work documents, requirements and design specifications, acceptance test plans and test results. 
  • Work with other departments, such as Product Development, Engineering, Implementation, IT, OSS and Operations, to ensure effective planning and efficient implementation and hand-over between departments.  
  • Ensure disciplined, methodical and professional design process execution on a consistent basis.  
  • Be aware and adhere to all applicable Health and Safety regulations, in accordance with legislation and related Company policy.

 

What you bring:

  • Education: graduate or undergraduate university degree in electrical/computer engineering or Computer Science or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of technical experience and project/program management in Telecommunications
  • Experience in delivering large scale projects, working with multiple vendors, and cross functional teams of various disciplines
  • Strong knowledge and working experience in some or all of the following areas:
    • IMS (CSCF, TAS, IBCF, MGCF, PCRF, HSS) and services (VoLTE, VoWiFi, SMS, Roaming )
    • 4G (LTE, EMM, S/PGW, HSS, PCRF) Network and services (APNs, MBB, M2M/cIOT, DPI, QoS, Roaming)  
    • 5G (5G SA, AMF, SMF, UPF, UDM, PCF) Network and services (MEC, Network Slicing)  
    • Wireless standards and forums (3GPP, GSMA, IETF, Cable Labs, ETSI, TM Forum amongst others)
  • Provisioning and Billing systems and applications
  • Previous design or engineering work experience with some of the following platforms:
    • NGN Voice Platforms: Ribbon C20/D20, SBC
    • Signaling & Routing: ENUM, STP, DRA, DEA, DNS
    • Knowledge of Automation, Orchestration, Cloud Native, Virtualization, MANO
    • Knowledge of UE & SIM – SIM management, Device management, eSIM framework  
    • Knowledge of RAN, LTE, 5G SA/NSA, CAT-M1, NB-IOT
  • Understanding of Canadian Telecom Regulatory and Tariff  
  • Proven interpersonal, communication and leadership skills with a passion for results

  • Self-sufficient and strong ability to adapt to changes
  • Strong written, presentation, and verbal communication skills
