Rogers is seeking a Sr. Manager Data Services & DevOps. Reporting to the Director – DMT at the Rogers Park Brampton Campus. The incumbent will be an integral part of the Big Data team and will ensure that production IT systems and services continually meet business needs in a reliable and efficient manner. This role requires strong leadership and technical skills around Agile-drive data facilitation, incident and problem management, automation and monitoring, system integration and IT operations. He / She will assess and analyze complex data problems and work in partnership with business to deliver end-value to the customer and org. He or she will understand and model key business capabilities, processes, relationships and impacts of technology on business goals.
Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for end to end development and operations of (business or customer facing) IT Applications assigned to this portfolio.
  • Accountable for managing a Development Group in the analysis, design, development, implementation, and support of applications to ensure and/or maintain alignment with the Lines of Business (LOBs) strategies.
  • Lead the Data Services strategy development and planning activities; working closely with key client stakeholders to define the client’s strategy and work streams required to achieve it.
  • Analyze and prioritize work streams, construct the Data Services strategic roadmap, and obtain the support required to implement it.
  • Initiate and participate in projects in the area of prediction, optimization, and processes using advanced statistical / mathematical approaches, in the enterprise environment
  • Proactively Collaborate with product management and engineering departments to understand company needs and devise possible solutions. Always angle for greater efficiency across all of our company data systems.
  • Manage and be proactive in reporting, resolving and escalating issues where required
  • Lead and co-ordinate problem management activities, in addition to continuous process improvement initiatives
  • Supervise and manage IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development and evaluation
  • Verify existing business tools and processes remain optimally functional and value added
  • Benchmark, analyze, report on and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systems
  • Work closely with other data and analytics team members to optimize the company’s data systems and pipeline architecture
  • Build data and analytics tools that will offer deeper insight into the pipeline, allowing for critical discoveries surrounding key performance indicators and customer activity
  • Partner with Business and IT stakeholders to evolve, enhance and refine Data Management use cases and applications based on defined business drivers and benefits
  • Collaborate with various Business and IT groups to identify and develop interface points with internal and external 3rd party platforms and data sources
  • Perform Solution & Design capacity planning and assignment
  • Conduct Solution & Design resource management, performance reviews and development

Required Skills:

  • 7+ years of experience in Managing cross functional team projects, Delivery, Operations or Support leadership role (e.g. Team Lead, Manager, etc.)
  • Agile and/or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFE) Software Delivery Life Cycle.
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to build processes that support data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to project manage and work with cross-functional teams
  • Strong background in Business Intelligence and production experience with Data warehousing projects and programs
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience with the following tools and technologies:
  • Hadoop, Spark, Kafka,
  • Relational SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Data pipeline/workflow management tools such as Azkaban and Airflow
  • AWS cloud services such as EC2, EMR, RDS and Redshift
  • Stream-processing systems such as Storm and Spark-Streaming
  • Object-oriented/object function scripting languages such as Python, Java, C++, etc.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field


Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • API Creation and Management (REST, SOAP, etc.)
  • IT standards, procedures, policy
  • Experience in statistical modeling, machine learning, or data mining practice
  • Experience in SQL, relational databases, database concepts, dimensional modeling and database design
  • Strong background in Business Intelligence and production experience with Data warehousing projects and programs
