Rogers is seeking a Senior Network Planner – Fibre to support various initiatives related to Wireline Access Networks.  Reporting to the ‘Manager – Fibre Planning, at the Rogers Park Brampton Campus, your technical strength and experience, strong communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills will provide support for Network Uplift programs, new technology introduction and ongoing skill development of our in house and contracted planning teams.


The primary focus will be Hybrid Fibre Coax and Passive Optical networks working primarily with Outside Plant Engineering and will include activities such as development and training of Detailed Design Specifications, developing design standards, training support, new technology introduction support, and support additional groups such as NI, Engineering and Network Planning/Development.


What you will be doing...

·       actively participate in short to mid-range planning

·       Assume lead role or support complex engineering projects.

·       Develop detailed design specifications from Engineering and design specifications for Network initiatives.

·       Is current on technology, industry and market trends and understands potential impact.

·       Provides technical advice and guidance and coaches others through issues.

·       Presents and communicates information on technology matters.

·       Engineering technical notes, bulletins, guidelines, standards and specifications

·       Field support as required

·       Foster and support the development of training programs

·       Support new technology introduction and associated knowledge transfer



What you have...

·       Minimum 8 years’ experience in planning and designing Fibre optic networks

·       Strong analytical and methodical troubleshooting skills.

·       Strong oral and written communication skills.

·       Excellent presentation skills and the ability to present and inform technology ideas and principles.

·       Understands potential impacts of work on other areas and technological developments

·       Is current on technology, industry and market trends.

·       Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, in an organized, methodical and pleasant manner.

·       Ability to work from assigned objectives, relative priorities and critical areas that impinge on work of other units.

·       Strong organizational skills along with the ability to comfortably excel while managing multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to assist on technical problems and review work for technical accuracy and adequacy

Education: experience should include undergraduate university degree, community college diploma with CET certification or equivalent experience.
