Reporting to the Manager, Network Solutions, in Technology and Service Integration group, the Solutions Architect will act as a Senior Subject Matter expert to drive Solution Design & Implementation for Data & Voice Services. The Solutions Architect will be a technical SME on Data services (5G, 4G) and IP Network. SI should be able to lead the solution design of the projects and also be able to coordinate the E2E perspective during implementation.


What you will be doing:

As a Solutions Architect (other wise known as a System Integrator at Rogers) you take full ownership of your deliverables. This includes:

  • Solution Design of Data Services (5G, 4G, 4G, M2M, IOT)
  • Solution Design comprising of Data NW nodes, like MME, SGW, PGW, PCRF, UDM, HSS, HLR, AMF, SMF, UPF, AUSF)
  • Review and dissection of Business requirements.
  • End to End network service impact assessment
  • Conduct Requirements Analysis for new and modified services and products and associated required technologies. Solution may involve new and untested technology, applications or approaches. Requirements involve large revenues and/or medium-to-long-term impact to the business. 
  • Participate in developing solution options analysis and providing an optimum recommendation that meets the stated requirements in functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, cost and support.
  • Assign and outline work for the technical staff in developing and producing suitable End to End Solution Design and Network Requirement Specifications
  • Able to review, understand and enforce implementation of 3GPP and other relevant standards, during Solution design phase.
  • Able to make call flows and use cases for 5G Data Session, 4G Data Session, 3G Data Session, Public Warning Service, Wireless priority Service) 
  • Development and support of IT interface specifications – Provisioning/Charging
  • Ensure disciplined, methodical and professional design process is executed on a consistent basis.  
  • Represent the department amongst and coordinate with peer departments such as Product  Development, Engineering, Implementation, IT, and Operations to ensure effective planning, design and efficient implementation and hand-over between departments.
  • Identify and devise new and novel approaches and methodologies relative to established guidelines to effectively manage technical, product, or business risks.
  • Manage Vendors to design, deploy, and integrate their portion of the solution, including: reviewing quotes and scope of work documents, requirements and design specifications, acceptance test plans and test results. Assist coordinating Vendor activities with required departments.
  • Able to lead of teams for solution design and implementation, with focus on technical, financial and business aspects.
  • Be aware and adhere to all applicable Health and Safety regulations, in accordance with legislation and related Company policy.


What you have:

  • Education: Graduate or Undergraduate university degree in electrical/computer engineering. Major in telecommunications is an asset
  • Minimum 5 years experience in Data Core, preferable Ericsson Data Core (MME, PGW, SGSN, GGSN, SGW, PCRF, AMF, SMF, UPF, HSS, AUSF, UDM)
  • Minimum ten years of technical experience in Telecom
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Solutions Architect.
  • Knowledge of IMS and VoLTE
  • Knowledge of User databases including: HSS/HLR/CUDB & SAPC
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and related protocols as well as routing protocols (BGP, ISIS, OSPF, MPLS)
  • Knowledge of DHCP, DNS, NTP, TOD, TFTP, HTTP, POP3, SMTP, NNTP protocols.
  • Knowledge of IOT, M2M, Massive IOT, CAT-M1, NB-IOT
  • Knowledge of virtualization, VNF, SDN, NFV.
  • Knowledgeable of Telecom Industry standards and forums, such as 3GPP, GSMA, OMA, ITU-T, IETF, Cable Labs, Packet Cable, SCTE
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal skills
  • Capable to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to work on complex problems where analysis requires in-depth evaluation of various factors in order to determine all options and arrive at the best solution
  • Creative and effective decision making to solve problems/achieve results
