Rogers is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Advisor to support the Telecom Security Unit. Reporting to a Sr. Manager of Telecom Security at the Rogers Brampton Campus, this individual will be responsible for providing telecommunication expertise on cyber security initiatives.  It involves identifying possible cyber security threat against Rogers’ telecommunication vital cyber systems, assessing security risk of such threat, analyzing internal and external security intelligence and coming up with remediation program to mitigate risk of such threat. The role includes working with SMEs across the company to represent Telecom Security Unit, and collaborate with external and internal parties to improve security posture of Rogers’ telecommunication vital cyber systems.

 

What you will be doing…

  • Work with SMEs in the Network organization and across the company to understand current security posture on Rogers’ telecommunication vital cyber systems
  • Conduct risk assessment on such systems to identify improvement opportunities in enhancing Rogers security posture
  • Develop process to ingest, analyze and model big data for internal and external security intel against Rogers vital cyber systems, our network and the customers that we serve
  • Develop process, procedure and scripts to analyze, produce and leverage security intel in detecting cyber threat against vital cyber systems. 
  • Work with teams within and outside ICSU to develop work process to remediate gaps while ensuring security risk is mitigated.
  • Provide technical support to CPC (Cyber Protection Centre) on telecom security matters.
  • Develop and provide regular reports and KPIs (Key Process Indicators) to demonstrate value add and process effectiveness.
  • Demonstrate and apply strong project management, documentation and communication skills.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on a number of production security technologies and keep abreast of emerging security support technologies and industry trends.
  • Coach and support junior team members in delivering TSU (Telecom Security Unit) mandates.

 

What you have…

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Information Management, Computer Science, or emphasis in technology or related field
  • 8+ years of telecommunication industry experience in the field of 3GPP wireless, CableLabs DOCSIS and PacketCable, radio / microwave systems, fiber optic inter-city / metropolitan networks, digital TV and IPTV systems, Internet broadband networks, or home phone systems, or equivalent qualification.
  • Knowledge of cyber security related frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, Cloud Security Alliance) is a definite asset.
  • Knowledge of NFV (Network Function Virtualization) & SDN (Software Defined Networking) is an asset
  • Knowledge of ITIL and lean 6-sigma is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Business Objects (BO) is an asset
  • CISSP, CISA, CISM, CA or similar certification are assets.
  • Excellent interpersonal, planning and organizational skills
  • Demonstrable understanding of how to network and develop working relationships with various key stakeholders
  • Practical working experience with data analytics
  • Experience performing big data trend analysis and data modeling an asset
  • Strong business and technical acumen
  • Strong project management, analytical, research, writing, documentation and communication skills
  • Communicates effectively with meaningful and articulate verbal discussions. Creates clear and coherent written materials. Synthesizes information into succinct, concise and logical summaries and reports.
  • Ability to work with teams to achieve goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Works well under pressure and time constraints and can prioritize competing priorities appropriately
  • Can work independently with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Proven track record as a team player and business partner
