Who we're looking for:

Rogers is seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer for our Customer Service Management (CSM)/Wireless Pricing Engine Application (WPE) application team.

 

Reporting to a Sr. Development Manager at the Rogers Park Brampton Campus, this individual will join a development team to play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and deploying robust, scalable, and secure backend systems using Java, Spring Boot, and Microsoft Azure cloud services. This position requires strong architectural skills, the ability to troubleshoot complex issues, and the technical leadership to mentor a team of developers.

 
What you'll be doing:

  • Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level backend systems and RESTful APIs using Java 21 and the Spring Boot framework.
  • Cloud Implementation & Architecture: Lead the implementation and migration of cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure, leveraging services such as Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Oracle Database, and Azure Key Vault.
  • Microservices: Architect and build resilient microservices architectures for enhanced scalability and resilience.
  • Database Management: Design, optimize, and manage interactions with various databases, including relational (e.g. Oracle Database, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and Redis DB, ensuring data integrity and optimal performance.
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Implement and manage automated CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps, Docker, and Kubernetes to streamline deployment processes.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure secure API access and data protection by implementing authentication (OAuth2, JWT), authorization, and encryption best practices.
  • Mentorship & Leadership: Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level developers.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with front-end engineers, DevOps, QA, and product teams in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver integrated solutions. 
    • Participate in Code reviews, mentor junior developers, and follow Agile/Scrum methodologies.
    • Provide application and user support, troubleshooting, monitoring, optimizing production systems using Dynatrace, App Insights, monitoring tools.

 

What you bring:

  • Experience: 10+ years of hands-on experience in backend development, with at least 5+ years specifically in Java 21 and Spring Boot frameworks.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Security, Spring Data JPA, Spring Cloud).  Junit, Log4J, Swagger Documentation, AKS, postman, Gradle
    • Proven experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services and deployment strategies.
    • Strong understanding of microservices architecture, API design principles, and integration patterns.
    • Proficiency with containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes).
    • Strong background in SQL database management and query optimization
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills
    • Strong communication and collaboration abilities
    • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Developer Associate).
  • Experience with performance tuning and observability tools (e.g., Dynatrace, and Jmeter ).
  • Familiarity with Telecommunication services domain or similar highly regulated industries
