Rogers is seeking a Senior HFC and Optical Access Engineer/Designer.

The primary focus of this position is senior level wireline access technology engineering work and support including:

  • Assume a lead role on complex engineering projects and/or lead a number of smaller, less complex projects.
  • Adopt opportunities to extend existing/emerging technologies to meet anticipated network, business, and customer needs.
  • Engineering support for problem cases/RCAs, technology testing, approval.
  • Research, author and present Engineering technical notes, bulletins, guidelines, standards, specifications, and studies.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and/or implement new features, hardware/software.
  • Optimize wireline network.
  • Engineer new and expanding systems.
  • Identify technical requirements.
  • Review own work and sometimes others' work for technical accuracy and adequacy.
  • Assist decision-making of management on technical issues.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance and coach others through issues.
  • Evaluate Wireline Access technologies.
  • Wireline Access technology innovation.
  • Help coach team members.

 

You will leverage your exceptional demonstration of values that Rogers embraces, interpersonal skills, senior level Wireline Cable Telecommunications knowledge and experience, analytical, and communication skills to research, develop, and help others with Wireline Access Design Standards and provide support to all related stakeholders.

 

What you will be doing…

  • Representing the company on technical matters.
    • Completing engineering analysis and creating specifications and guidelines/Tech Notes etc.
    • Modifying/adapting existing specifications, guidelines and other documents as required.
    • Analyzing technology industry, market trends, and developments to determine potential impacts and action accordingly.
    • Assisting others with engineering projects.
  • Technical writing and editing.
  • Adopting opportunities to extend existing/emerging technologies to meet anticipated network, business, and customer needs.
  • Engineering support for problem cases/RCAs, technology testing, approval.
  • Analyzing, evaluating, and/or implementing new features, hardware/software.
  • Optimizing wireline networks.
  • Identifying technical requirements.
  • Reviewing / editing work for accuracy and adequacy.
  • Assisting decision-making of team and management on technical issues.

 

What you have….

  • Preferably a graduate Engineer (or equivalent) with 7+ years experience.
    • Strong knowledge of all facets of wireline access engineering.
    • Ability to keep conversant with advanced technological developments.
    • Originality, ingenuity, and perseverance that are required for devising practical and economical solutions to problems.
    • Ability to understand, collaborate on, advocate for, and support the integration of network technology strategies.
  • Experience in and knowledge of the industry.
  • Strong ability to complete varied engineering assignments.
  • Understanding of potential impacts of work on other areas and technological developments.
  • Ability to work effectively within teams and independently.
