Reporting to the Director of Service Reliability Technology in Quality Engineering, the Sr. Manager, Test Automation Architecture will lead a team of Automation Architects and Software Developers who are responsible for understanding the needs of today and tomorrow. The role will be responsible to continuously evolve our test automation frameworks, suite of automation tools, best practices, and facilitate adoption in support of the Quality Engineering strategy within IT. The team operates in a cross-functional, collaborative manner, supporting all QE business units, Service Validation, Service Reliability, and Performance Engineering teams where it applies its industry awareness and knowledge to evaluate and implement new technology and processes that will result in more effective and efficient ways to validate new software.
The successful candidate will bring their experienced leadership in developing and building test automation frameworks, DevOps CI/CD practices, and superior critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Lead a team of Automation Architects and SDETs to design, develop, and govern the testing automation framework, technology stack, guiding principles and best practices to enable testing throughout all facets of the testing lifecycle and facilitate adoption of the Quality Engineering Transformation roadmap and ongoing test automation support of all IT business units, service validation, service reliability, and performance engineering initiatives.
- Develop a comprehensive Test Automation Architecture strategy to improve our release quality.
- Collaborate with Quality Engineering resources and external stakeholders (Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers, and Engineers) to prioritize and introduce innovative solutions that will validate conformance to existing service reliability KPIs and strive to continuously improve upon existing service levels
- Streamline our current methods of Test Automation by leveraging industry trends and best practices (automation, analytics, and AI/ML).
- Support the successful implementation of the Consolidated Lab strategy that ensures Test Automation infrastructure is scalable and resilient.
- Provide leadership for all new initiatives. Provide reporting and regular updates to the senior leadership team on automation adoption KPIs and innovation status of new Test Automation Architecture innovations, and financial tracking.
- Attract, develop, and retain top talent and Subject Mater Experts (SMEs) to ensure a high performing Test Automation Architecture team.
- Manage vendor resources and relationships such that they are most effectively being utilized to improve service levels.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams in all business units, Service Validation, and Service Reliability and Performance Engineering technology areas to frequently assess and re-prioritize new Test Automation Architecture initiatives.
- Continuously monitor and re-evaluate where Test Automation Architecture resources are to be focused that will yield the highest return on improving service levels.
- Continuously raise our standard of engineering excellence by proactively looking out for problematic signs that may affect product's performance and our customers' experience.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years experience in Test Automation Architecture, or related field and understanding test automation frameworks, technology stacks, tools, and best practices.
- 3-5 years of experience and proficient with Quality Engineering methodologies, software testing principles, concepts, verification, validation methods, test & risk management, and test automation tools
- Desirable to have someone with experience in managing a test automation infrastructure with an understanding of security compliance, reliability, and governance processes
- Highly developed communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills with proven ability to collaborate across business and technology stakeholders to build strategies and tactics that optimize business outcomes
- A critical thinker and strong problem solving skills with a proven track record of leading teams and driving change within large complex organizations
- Ability to define, explain and simplify strategy to gain buy-in from stakeholders
- Experience in managing a both internal and contractor resources
- Demonstrated ability to continuously improve all facets of our customer experiences
- Experience in Financial Management and Vendor management
- Possess a positive attitude and a passion for sharing knowledge within your team and across the organization
- Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or IT related major
