Senior Platform Specialist - Equipment Engineering


There is an immediate opening for a Senior Platform Specialist in Equipment Engineering Wireline, home office in our Brampton Office (8200 Dixie Road). The successful candidate will be a result-oriented individual with industry knowledge and technology experience who would be accountable to develop Business cases & support Detailed Design Packages (DDPs) from high level engineering plans and guidelines from the various Capacity and Planning groups under Networks Organization. 

The Equipment Engineering Senior Specialist works closely with Network Engineering, Vendors, Regional Equipment Engineering, Provisioning Teams, Outside Plant Engineering (OPE), Facilities (FPE) & Regional Network Implementation assigned to the projects to ensure that all required site level details are provided for the successful completion of the projects. This position will focus on the Core IP, Access Layer, Engineering Standards, and UAT (Unified Access Transport).


The Sr. Specialists responsibilities include:

  • Work with EE, OPE & Facilities on Fiber equipment installations in the Headends.
  • Equipment Engineering SPOC for UAT deployments.
  • Develop Facilities Standards for Site expansions and e-Headends (WIC).
  • Preparation and submission of detailed network equipment lists (MORs).
  • Assist in the coordination of timely delivery of materials to the project site.
  • Visiting Headend sites and completing site surveys for equipment installation.
  • Tracking projects to ensure deliverables are on schedule and on budget.
  • Facilities and OPE SPOC for new site builds.
  • Support for SpatialNet Modelling & Library entries and reporting/auditing.
  • Generating purchase orders for contractors.
  • Administer for Equipment Engineering SharePoint & Zone posting & Permissions.
  • Remain current with the latest company and Industry Technologies, Policies and Standards.
  • Beware and adhere to all applicable Health and Safety regulations, in accordance with legislation and related Company policy.
  • Support the Legacy Video and R-PHY video platforms.
  • Support the Ignite Video platform.


  • Practical Headend experience.
  • Knowledge of all CATV inside plant design and construction practices.
  • Understanding of all analog, RF, digital and other network transport Technology and systems.
  • Five years of CATV or related network industry experience.
  • Post-secondary education in Electronics or Telecommunications or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint software.
  • Proficient with SpatialNet software.
  • Proficient with Remedy software.
  • Proficient with Rogers Oracle purchasing and equipment status.
  • Excellent knowledge of Fiber installation, Headend Facility and OPE standards.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in CLI & IP fundamentals.
  • Valid driver’s license.
