The individual is a problem solver with a passion for technology who strives to continuously improve network capabilities and customer experience.


As part of the Air Interface team under Mobile Access Performance and Optimization, you will play a crucial role in determining the future of Rogers’s wireless network.  Your contribution and impact to the wireless network comes through the ability to analyze and understand network performance, technology roadmaps and consumer demands. With this knowledge you will actively highlight optimization opportunities to improve performance, assess network software releases, deploy new functionality into the wireless network, participate in troubleshooting efforts and support business initiatives.

  • RAN feature deployment
  • RAN parameter optimization
  • Data mining

 

What you bring:

 

  • Knowledge of LTE networks and the associated 3GPP specifications, specifically on RAN features, optimization, air interface parameters, radio resource management, signaling, mobility settings, idle and active mode call processing
  • Deep knowledge of 4G network architecture elements and protocols (Layer 3 messages and call flows)
  • Strong background in communications theory and RF basics, broad knowledge of other wireless technology such as LTE
  • Deep knowledge of RAN KPIs, counters, definitions of optimization parameters and their impacts on network performance and capacity
  • Experienced with RAN parameter changes and radio feature testing (knowledge on Ericsson platform preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with performance management, RF optimization, and capacity planning of LTE networks
  • Advanced knowledge of SAP Business Suite of tools
  • Advanced experience with one or more from the following: software development, agile methodology, scripting languages (Python, Perl, shell), databases, and/or statistical analytics
  • Research and build mathematical model for real network problems
  • Experience in the following areas: machine learning, large-scale data mining
  • Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithm
  • Deep understanding of statistics and probability
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with Windows, Linux/Unix environments
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with a creative and innovative approach
  • Detail-oriented, with a strong desire to excel in network design and performance improvement
  • Self-motivated, able to individually learn/research new network concepts and develop simulation/test criteria to observe performance and evaluate impact
  • Able to participate in or lead small project teams as needed to resolve issues
  • Willingness to share knowledge through documentation, collaboration and presentation
  • Adaptive to changes; capable of working under stressful situations, meet tight deadlines, and deliver results with high quality
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of current and emerging state-of-the-art network systems technologies, architectures, and products.
  • Good planning, organization, communication, and inter-personal skills

 

What you have:

 

  • BE/BSc degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering (Masters degree preferred)
  • Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English
