Rogers is currently looking for a Manager, RF and Equipment Engineering, Access Networks.  This position will report to the Sr.Director Access Networks BC. The successful candidate will lead a team responsible for engineering the ever-changing capacity and coverage demands of the Access Network in the BC region. This position is located Burnaby, BC.


What you will be doing…

  • Plan, budget and initiate all aspects of regional engineering to meet project deliverables and operational KPI’s.
  • Develop alternative options, within Rogers’ standards, to provide innovative solutions for deployment of new technology, functionality and new features for the Access Network.
  • Lead a team of both RF and Equipment Engineers in the design of new sites, technology upgrades, coverage solutions and in-building systems.
  • Ensure that all designs and installations are compliant with all government and safety requirements.
  • Monitor market performance and develop solutions to improve customer experience.
  • Create a collaborative environment with the Planning, Network Implementation and Field Operations teams to insure regional priorities and goals are aligned.


What you have....

  • Undergraduate degree in applied science (or equivalent) with 10+ years of work experience in access network environments. Direct RF engineering experience is preferable.
  • Professional designation is preferable.
  • Strong understanding of wireless network functionality and elements.  Full scope of GSM/HSPA/LTE technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of HSPA and LTE capacity requirements and capacity KPIs.
  • Understanding of wireline architecture, fibre infrastructure and microwave transmission.
  • Knowledge of radio propagation theory, radio transmitter and receiver circuits, cellular systems principles and two-way land mobile communications.
  • Familiarity with Ericsson and Huawei radio base station hardware and configurations is preferable.
  • Strong aptitude for data analysis and trend development.
  • Strong planning and budgeting skills.
  • Ability to provide direction and guidance to internal and external groups.
  • Ability to manage and track projects.
  • Ability to operate autonomously, within general direction guidelines.
  • Effective presentation and communications skills.
