Reporting to the Chief Information Technology & Cyber Security Officer, the Head, Cyber Security will design, implement and manage a comprehensive short-term and long-term strategy to protect the company’s information and network assets. This seasoned executive will also engage with internal and external partners and stakeholders, including government, regulators, and industry peers with similar cyber ecosystems to stay abreast of trends and best practices. They will lead, inspire, develop, and support an organization of 100+ team members.
Your key accountabilities will include:
Strategic Leadership:

Develop and implement the organization’s information security short-term and long-term strategy, policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Align strategic vision with the overarching goals of the company.
Risk Management and Compliance:
-
Collaborate with executive team to align information security initiatives with overall organizational objectives and priorities.

Implement security improvement programs to enhance the company’s security posture and ultimately manage as a competitive advantage.

Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate potential security threats and vulnerabilities.

Ensure continuous active monitoring of threat awareness and threat detection capabilities for ongoing risk assessment and proactive prevention and resilience actions.

Establish a risk-based security approach for managing information and network asset inventories; develop and implement cross-functional strategies to protect priority assets.

Ensure compliance with security-related legislation and regulatory requirements.
Internal and External Relationships:
-
Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, vendors, industry peers and stakeholders to drive a common security agenda and enhance organizational security.

Collaborate with IT/Network teams to integrate security controls into technology solutions/architecture/infrastructure.

Provide world class cyber services to the organization and build the cyber practice into a mature centre of excellence.

Foster a culture of security awareness and accountability and drive initiatives enabling security awareness across the organization through training & tools.
Incident Response and Crisis Management:
-
Monitor and respond to security incidents, conduct investigations and implement corrective actions to address security breaches.

Proactively develop and test incident response and recovery plans and implement continuous improvement tactics and business continuity practices.

Collaborate and communicate with internal and external partners and stakeholders during any security incidents.
Reporting and Budget Management:

Provide regular reporting and analysis to executive leadership and the board of directors on the status of the organization’s information security programs.

Oversee department budgets (capex/opex) ensuring cost-effective and appropriate allocation of resources.
Talent Management:

Attract, develop, and retain skilled security professionals to support business needs.

Enable business continuity through robust succession planning for key roles.

Foster a culture of inclusion, collaboration and diversity of experience and thought.
What you bring to the role:
-
Executive level depth & breadth of information security experience in growing complex organizations.
-
Demonstrated experience in developing a cyber security strategy. Able to long-term and establish/convey a clear vision for the cyber security strategy aligned with company goals.

Proven ability to develop and implement disciplined operations including:
-
Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing security landscapes and emerging threats, ensuring the company remains resilient and secure with constant, disciplined and pro-active monitoring.

Deep understanding of relevant laws, regulations and standards related to information security, as well as risk management, compliance, and technical security architecture.

Experience in design, implementation, and management of cybersecurity technologies and solutions.

Management of the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Coordinate and manage incident response activities, including investigation, remediation, and reporting of security incidents.

Exceptional leadership capabilities, you drive vision and strategies and inspire a high performing culture across the team.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to articulate complex security concepts to both technical & non-technical stakeholders.

Proven capability to work collaboratively across various departments and levels of the organization to achieve common goals.

Ability to make informed, timely decisions and take ownership of those decisions to drive the organization’s security agenda forward.

Strong track record of prioritizing internal development and promoting from within

Acts with a sense of urgency to resolve potential threats and issues

Experience presenting to a seasoned Board of Directors or its committees

Experience working within a telecom ecosystem (network and IT) is a significant asset.

Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA desirable.

Bachelor’s degree in information security, Computer Science or a related field – master’s degree preferred.
