Who we are looking for :

Infrastructure Specialist – Management Network

Rogers is seeking an Infrastructure Specialist to deliver 24/7 operational support for the Management Network. Reporting to the Manager, RCMIN NRE – Network Development & Core Engineering at the Rogers Park Brampton Campus, this role is responsible for monitoring, reporting on, and resolving issues across the National Management Network.

This position operates within a NetDevOps model, leveraging automation, scripting, standardized workflows, and close collaboration between Network Operations, Engineering, and Development teams to improve reliability, accelerate deployments, and increase operational efficiency.

 

This position is based out of the Barlow office in Calgary and works closely with cross-functional teams to support project deployments, ensure service stability, and drive operational excellence.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Provide second‑level operational support within a NetDevOps operating model, partnering closely with Network Engineering, Development, and Operations teams to maintain service stability
  • Own the incident and problem lifecycle, using automation, telemetry, and data‑driven analysis to investigate, resolve, document, and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) in accordance with SLAs
  • Review, validate, and execute change requests using standardized, repeatable workflows, including impact analysis, MOP validation, implementation, and post‑change verification
  • Execute and validate automated and manual MOPs, providing feedback to Engineering teams to improve reusability, reliability, and operational efficiency
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of operational processes, including identifying opportunities to reduce MTTR through automation, tooling enhancements, and proactive monitoring
  • Collaborate with NOCC, Incident Management, Engineering, Project Management, and Development teams to ensure seamless introduction of new platforms, services, and technologies into production.

  • Review project Design Documents to ensure operational readiness, automation feasibility, and alignment with NetDevOps best practices prior to deployment
  • Leverage scripting, tooling, and management platforms to support monitoring, change execution, reporting, and troubleshooting across the Management Network
  • Produce and maintain operational metrics and reports, including incident trends, workload volumes, and change activity (e.g., port activations, load balancer and firewall changes)
  • Engage vendors, TACs, and internal engineering partners as required for escalations; maintain accurate escalation paths and runbook documentation in SharePoint
  • Create, update, and maintain network, automation, and operational documentation, ensuring consistency with NetDevOps standards
  • Provide actionable feedback to Engineering teams on observed design gaps, scalability concerns, and performance risks
  • Participate in a rotational on‑call schedule, supporting after‑hours incident response and change activities
  • Ensure timely and accurate time reporting and adherence to all Health and Safety and corporate policies

 

 

 

What you Bring:

  • Strong knowledge of Python, Pearl, SQL, NETCONF, and other network communication programming methods
  • Strong knowledge of Unix and Linux operating systems
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting, interpersonal, and verbal/written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, high-energy, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in technology or engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a network support role
  • Advanced technical and troubleshooting expertise in the following areas:
    • Routing: BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, MPLS, Multicast
    • Switching: VLANs, VXLAN, EVPN, trunking, port aggregation, STP
    • Load Balancing: F5, A10
    • Security: ASA, FortiGate, SRX
    • IP Services: DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, NTP, FTP, IPV6
    • Management Services: SevOne, HPNA, TACACS, NNMi
    • Software Tools: Protocol analyzers such as Wireshark
    • Productivity Tools: Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint
    • Processes: ITIL
    • Platforms: Cisco, Juniper and FortiGate
