We are looking for a Managing Editor to join our CityNews Calgary leadership team. 


Do you care about the people you work with just as much as you do local news? Are you passionate about helping develop the next generation of storytellers? Are you an experienced journalist who is comfortable working across platforms? If this sounds like you, we would love you on our team.


What you will do:

  • Lead a talented, driven team of journalists working on multiple platforms, including radio, and digital
  • Put CityNews mission and values into action, innovating and changing the local news landscape – one story at a time
  • Set editorial direction for our team, with a focus on driving excellence
  • Develop our people to tell stories effectively on multiple platforms, with a special emphasis on audio storytelling and writing 
  • Set the bar for culture. We expect a lot from our people and our leaders.
  • Be empathetic as we help our teams navigate through an ever-changing media landscape.
  • Produce and develop content that reflects the diversity of Calgary

What you will bring:
