Who we're looking for:
Rogers is seeking a NOC Specialist to join a dynamic, high-performing Network Operations team. In this role, you will lead incident management activities to ensure the Reliability & Assurance of Rogers Core Network Infrastructure. You will work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment to adhere to established Service Level agreements for both internal and external stakeholders.
Location: We are open to hire for our Calgary, Edmonton or Vancouver .
What you’ll do:
- Perform all technical and administrative tasks to ensure network availability is successfully maintained at its highest levels, via incident and problem resolution.
- Monitor and function as an Incident Responder for Rogers Optical Transport, IP Core and switched packet core infrastructure 24/7 (The work shifts include days, nights, and weekends).
- Drive and manage Core-related incidents to resolution with focuses on impact mitigation and MTTR reduction.
- Provide support and function as a second level escalation on reported incidents.
- Coordinate escalations both internally and externally during outage and degraded events.
- Lead network incident management activities, ensuring restoration is in line with established service level agreements.
- Proactively improve and maintain Rogers’s network availability and reliability by analyzing and optimizing network performance.
- Initiate vendors and troubleshoot with carriers as required.
- Develop, document, and communicate Network Operations best practices & standards.
- Provide reports on status, fault management and utilization of the network.
- Work alongside network architects to assure standardization and reliability of core network environments.
- Provide pre-sales technical advisory and participate in new product launches, with a focus on Service Assurance.
- Promote and represent Rogers in a positive and professional manner.
- Various duties as required.
What you bring:
- Degree/diploma in a telecommunications and/or data communications field.
- Must be certified in CCNA or CCNP Routing & Switching. Service Provider specialty would be considered an asset.
- Minimum 2 years complimenting experience in Transport Network Engineering and/or Network Operations.
- Ability to do shift work including 24/7 (The work shifts include days, nights, and weekends, Stats).
- Intermediate knowledge of SONET, DWDM/CWDM transport technologies.
- Proficient knowledge of IP Transport, MPLS design and operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Dedicated to exceptional customer service and satisfaction to our internal and external customers.
- Ability to be creative, challenge and demonstrate initiative to generate improvements and foster positive outcomes.
- Must possess strong client relations skills and ability to provide strong support via telephone/ email.
- Function as escalation support for Network Analyst Is and mentor their technical development.
