Who we’re looking for
Rogers Enterprise and Voice Engineering team is looking for a technically skilled network designer with in-depth experience in wireline voice technologies. The successful candidate will be a problem-solver who understands legacy and next-gen voice infrastructure, and who can thrive in designing and maintaining scalable, reliable, and future-ready network solutions in a fast passed environment.
What You’ll Do
- Design and optimize wireline voice network architectures and services.
- Produce and deliver technical documents, diagrams and presentations for voice platforms/network.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and product teams to deliver voice solutions.
- Participate in design reviews and provide guidance on voice network evolution and integration.
- Support lifecycle planning, capacity management, and technology refresh initiatives.
- Collaborate with voice operations and support teams to troubleshoot and resolve customer escalations.
- Support sustainment and maintenance activities for voice services and technologies; including patching and software/firmware upgrades.
- Execute changes to implement network design and problem resolution in Rogers’ maintenance windows.
What You Bring
- 7+ years in telecom or network design, with a focus on voice technologies.
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong knowledge of Softswitches, VoIP, Session Border Controllers and Linux.
- In-depth knowledge of protocols such as SIP, UDP, RTP, DHCP, DNS).
- Experience with Networking standards such as Ethernet, IP, TCP, QoS as well as voice encryption
- Experience with packet capture tools and their use in troubleshooting voice issues
- Experience with voice customer premise equipment, phones and soft clients.
- Experience with carrier-grade voice platforms such as Metaswitch and enterprise voice services.
- Proficiency in network design tools and documentation standards.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
