Who we’re looking for:
Rogers is seeking a Field Manager responsible for implementing infrastructure builds and repairs. Reporting to the Sr. Manager Construction, the Field Manager will act in a leadership capacity for construction crew ensuring compliance with engineered drawings, safe working procedures and adherence to current legislation. 
 
What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead and motivate construction crew to meet deadlines
  • Communicate progress reports daily
  • Submit and manage third party locates to ensure project deadlines are met
  • Implement engineered drawings to plan and report any deficiencies
  • Act collaboratively with the crew to plan and problem solve and ultimately make decisions to implement solutions
  • Coordinate with infrastructure team to complete repairs and upgrades as needed
  • Where trained; locate and direct the Horizontal Directional Drill for the purpose of installing various types of telecommunication and fibre optic cable.
  • Where trained; operate the Hydro Excavation Truck, with the purpose of safely exposing locates and city utilities prior to installing or inspecting an underground plant.
  • Where trained; operate the Mini Excavator to create a trench for cable wires, or for the installation of various pedestals.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of equipment and associated tools, materials and/or equipment
  • Safely maneuver trucks/heavy equipment into loading and unloading positions, following signals from crew as needed
  • Ensure reports are being made of any equipment defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to equipment
  • Ensure circle checks are being completed of all equipment as directed by legislation, policies and procedures
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances and ensure all members of construction crew do so as well
  • Communicate and report any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes
  • Assist crew when required with traffic control, landscaping restoration and various outdoor physical activities and duties as needed

 

What you bring:

  • Previous experience in CATV or telecommunications construction practices and procedures.
  • Previous experience construction practices related to Fiber to the Home (FTTH)
  • Previous supervisory experience with a strong track record of team building 
  • Strong communication skills including presenting ideas, public speaking to large audiences, writing various types of documents for internal and external audiences, facilitating effective meetings
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to provide a driver’s abstract annually
  • Knowledge of fibre optic network architectures.
  • Knowledge of OHSA, CSA standards, related municipal by-laws, regulations and utility standards.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Project).

This is a hybrid work position and will require you to be in office three days per week. You can choose which days in office work best for you!
