As a Wireless Systems designer in the Atlantic Wireless Network RF, Engineering & Planning team, the successful candidate will be responsible for designing, augmenting, and optimizing the Rogers Wireless radio access network.
What you'll do:
- Responsible for RF engineering and design, of the Rogers Wireless radio access network, including GSM/UMTS/LTE/NR/CatM/NBIOT technologies.
- Apply propagation theory, cellular theory, antenna theory and RF engineering tools to select cell site placement, antenna height, site configuration, parameters, tilts, azimuths and power to maximize coverage, capacity, and performance of the network.
- Produce, perform, and approval of RF related tasks and documents.
- Search Maps and RF Propagation studies using Infovista Planet
- RF Qualifications
- Review PIP's and produce outbound RF Collocation form requests
- Review inbound RF Colocation request
- Review / Approve CAL's, FAL's, Civil Drawings
- Create / Approve Final Cell Designs, Civil Submissions / RF work orders and Real Estate Work orders.
- Create / Approve SIP Packages, SC6 EMF Visual Studies and SC6 Reports.
- Generate RND's, BTU's
- E911 PSAP updates and Polygon Data
- Data Checks, Audits, Close Out Packages, and Azimuth Report verification.
- RF Verification, KPI Monitoring and Acceptance
- Use network performance tools to analyze network KPI's to identify and resolve performance issues.
- Support network changes, and business directives involving technology changes, frequency planning, network retunes, parameter changes, interference mitigation and regulatory obligations.
- Respond to internal and external customer request on wireless network design and performance.
- Maintain Radio Engineering documentation, reporting, databases, systems, tools, and records.
- Provide executive level professional presentations of engineering results and recommendations when required.
- Work collaboratively with coworkers and stakeholders.
What you bring:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in wireless telecom industry
- Strong background and experience on radio network design for 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks
- Good knowledge of network KPI and parameters (Ericsson OSS preferred)
- Experience working with Ericsson ENM platforms
- University Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Telecommunications, Computer)
- Professional Engineering designation preferred
- Good technical understanding of TDMA, WCDMA, LTE, NR air interface protocols
- Excellent understanding of radio propagation principles for wireless spectrum.
- Good theoretical understanding of Tx/Rx Radio and Antenna system design
- Worked proficiently with Infovista Planet RF Planning tool (or equivalent)
- Understanding of RF radiation safety and Canada’s SC6 standard and EMF Visual software.
- Experience with In-building RF design and optimization is an asset.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, VBA, Microsoft SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate, Python automation, SQL is asset
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent planning, organization, and inter-personal skills
- Excellent communicator – fluent in English, both written and verbal
- Proficient in Infovista Planet.
