We have a rare opportunity as a full-time Traffic Reporter at CityNews Kitchener! 


If you’re an energetic and organized broadcaster looking for a chance to help commuters on the station Waterloo Region turns to for the best traffic reports, then we’d like you to join the CityNews Kitchener team!  


What you will do…

  • Curate and deliver creative, engaging, and accurate traffic reports for radio
  • Work with a team of talented broadcasters in a live environment with ease
  • Accurately and clearly deliver sponsor messages at the appropriate times
  • Use our vast social media presence to connect our audience with the latest information
  • Coordinate incoming tips and traffic information to stay completely updated, while also using your news sense to relay important tips to the newsroom
  • Contribute to the larger newsroom by using your personal experience and expertise to pitch news stories


What you will bring…

  • A passion for storytelling - you know what makes a great story and know how to tell it 
  • Experience in (and a love for) live broadcasting in a dynamic and unscripted environment
  • The curiosity to keep searching for the best information, and the experience to separate fact from fiction
  • An ability to take a customer service approach when taking tips and interacting with the audience
  • An understanding of the needs of a 21st century, multi-platform newsroom
  • A willingness to put team interests ahead of your own. You want to be here to do a good job, but also have fun doing so
  • News moves fast! You must be able to multi-task and deliver for multiple broadcast deadlines
