We are looking for an experienced Producer with a variety of experience in television productions including mobile, sports, special event, studio and field productions for our community television operations in the London area.  We serve the communities of London, St. Thomas, Strathroy, Woodstock and Tillsonburg and provide community programming to our viewers.  If you have solid editorial judgment, technical knowledge, and experience in mobile and studio productions, consider joining the Rogers TV  team as a Producer.

  

As a graduate of a broadcast or journalism program with at least 3 years of experience in productions, this challenging full-time position will put your initiative and creativity to the test.  Not only will you produce professional quality programs, you’ll also train and coach volunteers who are keen to follow in your footsteps.  We’re looking for a team player, someone who will build relationships with colleagues, engage the local community and help us drive viewership. The successful candidate will have the ability to make quick, smart decisions, tackle multiple projects and deliver on deadline. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Produce high quality television programs as assigned including sports and community events with our mobile assets plus studio or field based shows as assigned.  Working knowledge of mobile trucks, control rooms, studios, editing and field cameras and the ability to teach volunteers is required.  You will adhere to production standards, company and regulatory policies.
  • Train and coach volunteer groups and individuals in producing local television programs, including participation in workshops.
  • Establish and nurture contacts within the community in order to engage them in the development of relevant, timely local programming.
  • Produce high quality promos for each production and provide the necessary information for the promotion and publicity of these programs.
  • Work collaboratively with the Community Engagement Specialist to book and confirm the appropriate crew for each production through our online portal.
  • Book and confirm on-air talent and production equipment.
  • Develop and maintain full knowledge of the available production equipment, participating in training sessions as new equipment is introduced.
  • Possess technical knowledge suitable to provide support for productions and trouble shoot equipment as required.
  • Cultivate positive working relations with internal and external customers.
  • Attend and contribute to regular production and editorial meetings.
  • Perform all required administrative duties including the preparation of a monthly report.
  • Adhere to all policy and legal requirements under Health and Safety Legislation
  • Adhere to company and department policies as well as meet regulatory obligations and industry codes.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervising Producer or his/her designate.

 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent editorial judgment and production skills.
  • Initiative, responsibility and creativity.
  • Graduate of a broadcasting or journalism program or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years production experience.  Experience in a variety of roles and production environments considered an asset.
  • A solid understanding of community television operations, including technical producing, especially mobile and studio productions and event coverage.
  • A technical proficiency or basic knowledge of the operations of Mobile Production.
  • Ability to work under stress, handle multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
  • Valid class G license with excellent driving and workplace safety records.  Must be willing to obtain a DZ license during probationary period.
  • Must be able to work shifts, including evenings and weekends, under Labour Canada Averaging Permit.
