Who we're looking for:

The Senior Software Developer executes the strategic direction and vision for the Rogers Business Managed Services (RBMS) development team, ensuring that projects align with the company’s goals and objectives. You will be primarily responsible for developing and supporting a network management platform that includes web applications, services and third party API integration tools. In addition, strong knowledge and hands-on experience with SQL is required as your responsibilities will also include SQL development and maintenance, such as designing and implementing new tables and stored procedures and analyzing and enhancing performance of existing ones.

What you'll do:

• Project Management & Oversight: responsible for managing the entire software development lifecycle, from initial planning and design to implementation, testing, and deployment. This includes setting project timelines, allocating resources, and ensuring that milestones are met. Your oversight ensures that projects stay on track and are delivered on time and within budget.

• Technical Expertise: Design, code, test, and debug complex software applications. Conduct technical design reviews, code reviews, and functional specification reviews. With expert-level proficiency in both frontend and backend development, you ensure that the technical aspects of projects are executed flawlessly.

• Quality Assurance: Develop and maintain quality assurance documentation, conduct code reviews, and implement testing strategies to ensure that software meets performance, capacity, and scalability standards. Your focus on quality helps to minimize bugs and issues, leading to more reliable and robust software products.

• Innovation & Improvement: Continuously identify and assess new technologies and methodologies to improve software products and development processes. By staying up-to-date with industry trends, you ensure that the company remains competitive and can leverage the latest advancements to enhance RBMS software and product offerings.

• Problem Solving: Adept at resolving complex technical issues, you provide solutions to challenges that arise during the development process, making critical decisions that impact the project’s success. Your problem-solving skills are essential for overcoming obstacles and ensuring smooth project progression.

• Collaboration & Communication: Effective communication and collaboration are key aspects of this role. You work closely with clients, stakeholders, and other departments to understand software requirements and ensure alignment with business goals. Your ability to convey ideas clearly and collaborate with various teams helps to build strong relationships and ensures cross-functional alignment.

• Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve conflicts within teams or projects effectively by mediating, negotiating, and always promoting a positive work environment.

• Mentorship & Development: You play a vital role in mentoring and developing junior developers. By providing guidance and support, you help to foster growth and development, encouraging best practices and continuous learning to build a strong and capable development team.

• Security & Best Practices: Ensuring security best practices are integrated into all aspects of development and operations is a critical responsibility. You implement security measures to protect applications and data, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Expert-Level Proficiency Required in the Following Areas:

• Frontend and Backend Development: Expertly integrate React.js with .NET/C# applications to create seamless and efficient user experiences.

• API Management: Create and manage robust APIs to enable smooth communication between different services and components.

• Third-Party API Integration: Enhance functionality and data retrieval by effectively integrating third-party APIs.

• SQL Proficiency: Create and modify stored procedures (SPROCs) in SQL for efficient data retrieval and manipulation.

• Azure DevOps: Manage code repositories, version control, and collaboration through Azure DevOps to streamline development processes.

• Design Patterns: Serve as a technical lead for implementing common design patterns in software development to create reusable and maintainable code.

• Code Quality: Ensure high code quality through rigorous reviews, comprehensive testing, and adherence to coding standards.

• Testing: Write and execute tests for different layers of the application to ensure functionality and reliability.

• Monitoring and Logging: Set up and maintain comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and logging systems for applications and infrastructure.

• Security: Integrate security best practices into all aspects of development and operations to protect applications and data.

• SNMP: Utilize Simple Network Management Protocol for effective network management and monitoring.

• Data Retrieval: Implement techniques for periodically retrieving data from devices or services to ensure up-to-date information.

• Azure Virtual Machines: Manage Azure Virtual Machines, including deployment, scaling, and monitoring of resources.

• Azure Networking: Apply Azure networking concepts, security configurations, and best practices to protect applications.

• Azure Managed SQL: Use Azure Managed SQL instances for data storage, including setup, management, and optimization of SQL databases.

• CI/CD Pipelines: Design and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated software builds and deployments to streamline release processes.

• Multi-Threading: Understand and apply multi-threading concepts to develop applications that perform concurrent tasks efficiently.

• RBMS DevOps: Work with RBMS stakeholders to identify areas for continuous improvement and execute, test, and implement these enhancements.

What you bring:

• Experience: Extensive background in software development, with a deep understanding of various programming languages such as a C# and ASP.NET and React.js.

• Education: A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to mentor junior developers and encourage best practices.

• Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in software design, coding, testing, and debugging. Familiarity with software development methodologies and tools.

• Multi-Tasking: Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, ensuring that all deadlines are met and quality is maintained.

• Adaptability: Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and methodologies, ensuring the team stays current with industry trends.

• Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to assess complex problems and develop effective solutions.

• Collaboration: Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, clients, and stakeholders.

• Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure high-quality code and project deliverables.

• Time Management: Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks and manage workload efficiently.

This is a hybrid work position and will require you to be in office three days per week. You can choose which days work best for you!
