Today’s Shopping Choice (TSC), one of our more exciting brands is helping to lead the way in our transformation and is poised for exponential growth.  Both a retailer and a media company, we operate a daily live TV home shopping service (available in 10 million households, nationally) and a robust e-commerce storefront (tsc.ca). As shoppers’ behaviours change and the retail industry evolves quickly to adapt, TSC finds itself at the sweet spot of opportunity and transformation. The desire to shop more easily from home combined with the rise in video consumption across digital platforms, creates a unique opportunity for TSC to leverage its strengths to transform the brand and build an incredibly bright future.

This 12 month contract position reports to the Senior Buyer and your primary responsibility is to work closely with Buyers, Associate Buyers,
Merchandise Assistants and Show Execution Coordinators on the planning of show scripts. This includes monitoring all shows and
making changes necessary to optimize sales and profitability. This is an excellent starting role within TSC, providing many opportunities for
professional growth within the Buying team.

What you will do:

  • Obtain first draft of Showspread with new and relevant existing items from Associate Buyer
  • Prior to building a show, requisition showroom samples for review with Buyer as needed.
  • Discuss show strategy with Buyer/Associate Buyer that is historical performance, targets, GP%, aged vs new inventory, advanced order plans.
  • Meet with Show Execution Coordinator to review show strategy and script
  • Apply critical thinking to building scripts this is script/show order, length of time, back-up items, show vision, easy pays, upsells, estimated units and sales expectations
  • Plan script revisions hour by hour. Watch & monitor shows. When revising script determine course of action for on air execution
  • Sign-off on Pre-Show Checklist that is confirm inventory availability, Easy Pays, start quantities, guest confirmation, guest bio, brand information, marketing messages, on-air graphics, show support and demo samples
  • Communicate with Leadership team, guests, hosts and crew on all show execution and same-day show revisions
  • Finalize show line-up with Buyer and guest
  • Request model and demo samples if needed 1 week prior to show.
  • Communicate Intra day emails in a timely manner
  • Incorporate all feedback from launch hours and address to flawlessly execute each show
  • Chair the 7:15am, 9:15am, 3:15pm and 6pm daily broadcast meetings, to ensure flawless execution and key information is cascaded
  • Issue advance orders where required
  • Other duties as required

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Attention to detail is a must
  • Excellent organizational, planning and prioritization skills
  • Technical skills- proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
  • Ability to work variable shift schedule
  • Sound analytical and problem solving skills with an ability to understand broad complex business issues
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, coupled with exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills to gain buy in and build consensus across the organization
  • Passionate, hard-working, dedicated, innovative and forward thinking
