The Senior Financial Analyst is a professional that plays an important role in the overall management and development of the financial activities for Today’s Shopping Choice (TSC) media division. The candidate should be able to leverage strong finance skills and business acumen to play an instrumental role in interfacing with key functional areas and providing insight into the financial results and key drivers behind the numbers. The successful candidate will be expected to be a self-starter, critical thinker, effective communicator and possess strong technical and interpersonal skills, and the ability to balance various demands in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment.

 

What you'll be doing:

  • Prepare and submit monthly journal entries for accruals, adjustments, and other related entries including preparing corresponding account reconciliations at month-end
  • Provide meaningful in-depth analysis of gross profit related accounts.
  • Provide commentary on financial results compared to budget and forecast on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis
  • Liaise with cross-functional groups to ensure that working capital is properly managed factoring in identified risks and opportunities highlighted as a result of the weekly / monthly analysis
  • Support the development and implementation of dashboards to include operational metrics and KPIs
  • Work cross-functionally to assist in various financial and reporting requirements while ensuring that best practices of corporate standards and policies are complied with
  • Conduct audit of scheduled physical inventory counts in warehouses
  • Develop ad-hoc and financial models and analysis as needed
  • Provide support with business cases, deep dives analysis, reporting package improvements and other initiatives
     

What you have:

  • Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Business or related discipline
  • Professional Accounting / Finance Designation completed or current enrollment in a program is preferred
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in FP&A roles
  • Advanced analytical skills and expert MS Excel skills
  • Proficiency in Oracle Financial Systems and Essbase would be an asset
  • Strong business sense and highly advanced analytical and problem solving skills, including ability to synthesize financial data into relevant analyses
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ease in communicating with various levels in the organization (including senior management)
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude, possessing the ability to work under minimal supervision in a dynamic, fast paced, changing work environment and also within a team
  • Able to proactively identify process improvement opportunities and drive process improvements through to implementation
  • Strong time management, with the ability to perform multiple tasks and objectives and prioritize effectively to meet timelines
