Are you up for the challenge and the fun?  If so, consider the following opportunity!

We’re looking for a Producer for OMNI Television’s Arabic National language newscast.
You will have the exciting and rewarding challenge of providing an editorial direction for the newscast and equally for our dynamic team of reporters in Toronto and VJ’s in Montreal.

As leader, you will oversee the production and delivery of a 30-minute daily newscast reflective of our Arabic speaking community. The Producer is also accountable for coaching, and mentoring colleagues to help them grow individually, journalistically and professionally.

And of course, a key objective will be the promotion and growth of a social media following to give OMNI Arabic an expanding National and Global digital footprint

This is an incredible opportunity to be a part of a National News Program which builds upon Canada’s diversity, through the telling of stories which are compelling to all, and complimentary to the integration of newcomers to Canada. Rogers has a proud and distinctive record on this front, and wouldn’t it be exciting to share in this passion to give voice to a growing and vibrant community!

What you will do…

  • You will lead a morning editorial lineup meeting to ensure the production of an engaging and informative newscast.
  •  Assign original, breaking, National and International news stories which help our viewers stay connected with their community and the world.
  • Develop and nurture story ideas and pitches with the team, with the objective to provide unique perspectives and deliver compelling content.
  • Supplement story content through the writing and editing of news briefs from wire services as an example. This enables reporters to concentrate efforts in producing original material.
  • Review and vet story scripts and provide feedback from linguistic, editorial, structural points of view. Process results in the delivery of fair and balanced reporting along with broadcast quality standards.

What you will bring…

  • Characteristics needed for success: Confident and empathetic, decisive yet open. Thorough and rigorous.
  • Ability to motivate, inspire and support the team through constructive feedback and engagement collectively and personally.
  • Speak fluently in Modern Arabic, read and write Arabic script, and have a minimum basic working knowledge of French and English. Experience with live news, control room and field production. A commitment to build a strong network within the Arabic-Canadian community

Here’s what you can expect in return:

•    A competitive salary and benefits that include access to our Employee Share Accumulation Program, Retirement Benefits and a variety of other perks including 50% off Rogers services and Blue Jays tickets
•    A manager who deeply cares about your development and long-term career at Rogers
•    A team that trusts and wants to win together
•    Smart and accomplished colleagues who are focused on both the “what” and the “how”
•    Flexibility to work from home even after the pandemic ends
•    Your choice of hardware and software (iPhone or Android or PC etc.)
•    As we grow our team, the well-being of our team members remains our top priority. To ensure the health and safety of our team members, including those in the recruitment process, our team members are working from home, and are equipped to do so safely and efficiently
