We’re looking for a Broadcast Technician (8 month contract) in the Toronto region at Rogers tv.

What you will do…

  • As a Broadcast Technician with the Rtv Production Engineering team, you will work to support IT related production requirements including process improvements across all content platforms. 
  • Assess faults, prioritize, and report remedies or recommendations. 
  • You will assist with implementing capital strategy and participating in evolution of the Rogers tv infrastructure. 
  • You will be responsible for installing and supporting studio and mobile equipment, deployment of editing systems and related storage solutions.
  • Develop preventative maintenance plan, schedule and implement same.
  • Work with vendors to ensure equipment and software purchases are correctly delivered, deployed and inventoried.
  • Recommend, test and install new equipment and systems.
  • Provide training on new installations as required.
  • Support and maintain Rogers tv’s local media related IT systems including servers, network infrastructure, and applications.
  • Liaise with corporate IT to ensure hardware and application compliance with corporate standards and policies.
  • In properly maintaining and troubleshooting all related systems, you will allow the production to better perform their functions to provide the best viewer experience possible.

  • Professionalism and accountability
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and manage projects from concept to completion
  • A real passion for working with Video/Audio files and streaming
  • Deep knowledge of video and audio transcoding
  • Knowledge of MPEG2 / MPEG4 / h.264 / h.265 / J2K compression
  • Knowledge of SDI / ASI / IP data streams
  • Experience with TCP-IP Network Infrastructure
  • Knowledge of Asset Management Technology
  • Experience with editing systems.
  • In depth knowledge of Windows & Linux OS
  • Understanding scheduling automation systems
  • Some IPTV and VOD Experience
  • An excellent aptitude for trouble shooting
  • A willingness to train production teams to utilize implemented technology 
  • Solid networking knowledge, OSI network layers, (TCP/IP, MPLS, VLAN, VPN, VOIP), routing and switching IKE, DMVPN, PKI
  • Design, configure, and troubleshoot Enterprise class infrastructure and storage (SAN and NAS) solutions
  • Experience with cloud technologies and services a plus (AWS and Azure)
  • In-depth knowledge of analog and digital video/audio systems
  • Motivated to provide exceptional customer support, with attention to detail, and be an active member of the overall production process
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision, including managing multiple conflicting priorities
  • Valid class G license with excellent driving and workplace safety records
  • Be available on a rotating basis for on-call after-hours support and able to travel
