Safety Advisor

At Rogers, we are committed to protecting the safety and well-being of employees. The Safety Advisor's role is to support the organization in identifying operational, physical and environmental factors that may cause or contribute to injury in the workplace, and in achieving and, where appropriate, exceeding compliance with applicable legislation. Based in Toronto, the Advisor will be a source of guidance and information for Safety Committees, Operations, and Human Resources at locations across Ontario.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports Operations in identifying and controlling hazards in the workplace place and meeting safety legislative requirements
  • Supports Safety Committees in conducting meetings and inspections, participating in incident investigations and safety assessments, and effectively representing their employee groups in workplace safety discussions
  • Assists with implementing, monitoring and reporting on strategic safety and well-being initiatives
  • Conducts ergonomic reviews
  • Communicates with health and safety regulators 
  • Maintains expertise in safety legislation and best practices, and understands their impact on operations

Qualifications:

  • University degree or college diploma, preferably in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Minimum 3 years experience in occupational safety
  • Achievement of Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation is an asset
  • Strong written, presentation and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively deal with all levels in an organization
  • Ability to motivate others to implement policies and programs
  • Ability to work independently, use critical thinking, take initiative and be resourceful
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Windows applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams
  • Experience in conducting safety audits and providing safety support to technical operations is an asset
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry is an asset
  • Ability to travel within the region
  • Reliable access to a personal vehicle
  • Bilingualism is an asset (French and English)
